Born To Be My Baby by Lori Ryan, Kay Manis

A homecoming he never wanted ...

Ben Sumner left the suffocating small town of Canyon Creek, Colorado ten years ago, and never looked back. Not for more than a visit. Even though his family helped found the town and owned a large piece of the mountain at its center, he always felt out of place.

His father's death has changed that, bringing him home to discover his parents leveraged everything to build a lodge on the family's property. Ben knows cutting costs is the only way to keep the bank from foreclosing on his family's legacy. There's only one person standing in his way: Maggie Lawrence, the high school crush who'd never spared him a glance. She might be just as beautiful as she was ten years earlier, but he'll do whatever it takes to stop her.

Maggie Lawrence fought harder than most to get to where she is today. She's overcome her father's cruel taunts and jeers, and found a place where she belongs. At the Lodge at Canyon Creek, she's a valued part of the staff, and practically a member of the Sumner family.
When the lodge owner, John Sumner suddenly dies, she'll do everything in her power to carry on John's dream, even if that means fighting the oh-so-sexy Ben Sumner every step of the way.

Born to Be My Baby is the first book in the Canyon Creek, CO Series. It can be read as a standalone book.

I liked it. You have a very descriptive writing ability. I did not care for all the swearing. Some of it i skipped over. Overall I would say read it.

This is a good storyline, however the explicit sex should hsve been left out. That spoiled it for me. I will not choose this author sgain.

An amazing start to a new series, that I am already in love with the Sumner family of six single brothers. They have all left Canyon Creek to start their careers but now to only return to after the death of father to help them mom with the lodge. This story focuses on Ben and Maggie. Ben has a secret crush on Maggie. Maggie is now his mom's right hand the lodge, but they are deep trouble financially. Now Ben needs help the lodge survive, with many butting of heads between Maggie and Ben. Soon they find themselves with an amazing chemistry that they can not deny. My favorit line from this book, that ties everything together, "True wishes lay where you least expect them- in family, health ....and love". I can't wait to read about the other brothers. I highly recommend this small town contemporary romance.

An absolutely fantastic start to what should be an amazing series. I loved this book and can't wait to read more about the Sumner family and the Lodge in Canyon Creek. This is a wonderful small town romance that pushes all sorts of emotional buttons. The Sumner's are a big loving family but all 6 boys have left Canyon Creek and started their lives elsewhere. When they are all called back after the death of their father they find their mother has been left in a bit of a financial bind and it will take all of them to help save the lodge and their mother's home. This is Ben and Maggie's story. Maggie Lawrence has been their for Ben's mother all along and has worked with his parents on every stage of the lodge expansion. Having Ben come in and try and takeover now infuriates Maggie. She may not be as successful as the high and mighty Ben but she knows this business and won't let him kill his mother's dream. Ben never expected to be living in Canyon Creek, CO again but he can't let his mother lose everything. Problem is working with Maggie, his high school crush, isn't going to be easy especially when he has to convince her that all their plans need to change. What starts out as a war of wills turns into so much more as Ben and Maggie begin to work and play together. A recommended read!
