I bought this book as joke for my friend, because she thinks butts are gross(we're 16)I read through the book and I think it's a good artistic book if your the kind of person who enjoys this type of art. My older sister is into art and fashion and enjoyed the book on a mature level. As I did catch myself getting interseted into it and not giggleing. The pictures are really detailed and nice.

Probably more than any author writing about art today Edward Lucie-Smith seems driven to bring the treasures of the art world to the matter how resistant readers may be! Always well researched and written with consummate grace, Lucie-Smith writes about animals, people, erotica, history, schools of art, and now even focuses on Bottoms. In an entertaining style he fills this little tome with closeups of the buttocks as painted and sculpted and photographed by the well known and the newly discovered artists of past and present. Then after this thematic diversion he shows us the entire art piece from whence the buttocks came...and at times the surprises are startling. This is a fun gift for those friends who look at museum or gallery visits with dread. Catch the twinkle in Lucie-Smith's eye and pass it along. This may be the best way to introduce fine art to the masses!
