As a lifelong student of the history of the Old Northwest Territory, I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. It was not another tired recounting of Tecumseh, William Henry Harrison, and the Indian Wars of the 1790-1812 period. Instead, the book is an excellent collection of essays that give readers glimpses into lesser known and far more interesting conflicts between Indians and settlers. I learned a great deal I did not know about the struggle for control of the Old Northwest history, and that truluy impressed me. Definately required reading for anyone interested in the history of the Old Northwest.
