About the Author

Lisa Loomis was born in Oakland California and raised in San Jose until she was a sophomore in high school. Her father then took a job in the San Diego area where he moved the family to Escondido, California (or hickville as she called it). She finished high school at San Pasqual High then went to junior college at Palomar JC, ultimately graduating from San Diego State University with a BS in Finance. Lisa started a career in mortgage banking in San Diego, California, briefly shifted to a corporate job as a territory sales representative, and then back to mortgage banking in 1996 when the family moved from the San Diego area to Park City, Utah. The move to Park City was prompted by a desire for a lifestyle change. Both she and her husband Dennis wanted to raise their two children in a smaller town environment that was still close to a large city. In Park City Lisa not only ran a mortgage branch but simultaneously helped Dennis run a successful construction company, Loomis Construction. Working full time, running a construction company in off hours, and raising two children was never easy but Lisa seemed to handle it all pretty well until the financial meltdown of 2008. That is when the wheels came off…completely. Finding both her career in mortgage banking and the family business almost vanish overnight Lisa went back to a passion she’s always had, writing. It took Lisa almost four years to write “Boy In A Band”, stopping and starting, telling herself she couldn’t write a book. Once it was written Lisa foolishly thought the hard part was finished. In the last ten years Lisa has continued to help her husband with their construction business as well as spends time writing. Lisa’s currently lives and writes in Park City, Utah. She has been married for twenty-nine years and enjoys spending time with their grown children who live in Salt Lake City. Self-published books on Amazon.

Boy In A Band is the first book in the Morgan Mallery series! I don't know where to begin with this book, I have to be completely honest here and say that I loved it at times but then, there would be a time that I wished I could reach in the pages and just slap someone for what they were doing. The thing that got me the most was all the drugs and sex talk in this book but then again, it was set in the hippie era of the 1970's. The whole fast paced of this book didn't bother me which was kinda surprising since that usually gets to me but it made the book and the characters seem real to me. You have a young thirteen year old Morgan who gets entranced by a young thirteen year old Matthew who she just meets due to a stop made by her mother. From that moment that Morgan meets Matthew, that's all she can think about and it will lead them both down a path of love that kinda irked me a bit for what both of them would do to each other. You get to basically watch them grow up and fall in love with other people but while still in love with each other until Morgan finally breaks free of the toxic love that her and Matthew share. I so wasn't expecting how this book ended and through all the madness and wanting to slap one of them, it will leave a tear in your eye! I don't want to give it all away so y'all just have to read this book to see what I'm talking about, you won't regret it at all! It has made me curious about the other 3 books in this series enough that it would be interesting to get more background on what happened during certain parts of this book! I have to give it to the Author for making me love a book that was hard to love at times and I'm so curious now to see what other kind of books she has written!! Thank To Lisa Loomis for this book that has made me become a fan of yours from this day forward! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from RockStar Book Tours! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the Author!

Do you ever forget your first crush / first love? Not if you are Morgan Mallory ... If you are looking for a beautiful story that will take you on an exhilarating roller coaster ride while experiencing the full gamut of emotions, then Boy In A Band is the book for you. Author Lisa Loomis pulls out all the stops in this emotional and passionately sexy coming of age love story set in 1970s San Jose, California. Morgan Mallory and Mathew O'Conner met at the age of twelve, and over a span of time their complex relationship develops from friendship, to discovery, to an undeniable connection and hold on one another that endures ... it pulls them together and tears them apart ... it is a breathtaking love story about two people who loved, lost, and loved some more. Boy In A Band is a gritty, sweet, sexy, fun romance story with a touch of erotica, that easily draws the reader into Morgan and Mathew's story, and holds them captive with gripping twists and turns until the surprising conclusion. The author easily transports the reader back to the decade of the 1970s, a time of discovery, free love, and letting it all hang out. The author provides the reader with a walk down memory lane as she mentions the sights and sounds of that decade. I found myself smiling and remembering the lyrics to songs from my favorite bands: The Eagles, Queen, Styx, etc ... thank you Lisa for taking me back to my teenage years, it was a fun blast from the past! I would be remiss if I didn't describe Morgan and Mathew's relationship: a complex friendship, where Morgan develops feelings for Mathew, her first crush / first love, only to receive mixed signals from him ... and when their friendship becomes a sexual one, the emotional roller coaster ride gets bumpier as their undeniable connection and hold on one another endures over the years, despite the fact that Mathew is never able to commit to Morgan the way she has always wanted. Theirs is a story of two young people who discover love, loss, and life lessons. An all consuming love that no other love could replicate. Boy In A Band is a poignant love story that will pull at your heartstrings, and in the end leave you utterly and emotionally drained.

**3 1/2 Stars** I loved/ hated this book (kind of like how Morgan loves/hates Mathew). I loved it because there was a great story line and I wasn't able to put it down. Also there were some really sweet moments between Morgan and Matthew, I also really liked Gayle. What I hated was how Mathew treated Morgan what seemed like most of the time, and how Morgan kept going back EVERY SINGLE TIME! It just pissed me off how she fell for Matthews crap and then was hurt when he did something mean and stupid. They ending was pretty sad though, but kind of expected after reading the whole thing. I will be reading Cowboy Casanova though to see what happens there.

Ah, the 70s and teenagers. Great story line. Compelling, well written and totally believable. Pulled me in from the first sentence and still hasn't let me go. I laughed out loud and cried real tears during my reading adventure. Made me think about my high school first love and where he may be now. My only problem with the book was it wasn't long enough. I hated it to end. More, more please!

This compelling book is about Morgan, a teenage girl who finds herself strongly attracted to a boy who is a family friend. The relationship doesn't evolve in the usual way and the reader is drawn to continue reading to see what Morgan will do. The book will bring you back to the freedom, sex and drugs of the 70s. This is one of those books that calls you to keep reading. If the word gets out, this book will make it to the New York Times Bestseller List.

Morgan woke from a dream. I then began to emotionally experience where her journey with Mathew would lead her. Thank you for a great story of love & perseverance & realizing what we want isn't always what we need.

Lisa Loomis's book Boy In A Band is filled with the kind of emotional pathos that only a first time love can conjure up. An unforgettable love. One that is filled with so much heartache and heartbreak that it is almost like a drug...It leaves you wanting more. Julianne Malibu CA
