Brahan's Stone is a novel based on Kenneth Odhar, a sixteenth century Scottish prophet known as the Brahan Seer. The Story takes place in the British Isles and deals with Scott Fenner, a middle aged, recently divorced American antique dealer who, by chance, finds the prophet's stone. From that point on, Scott, his girlfriend and business associates become unwitting prey to the Bishop Carmichael who is driven by insatiable greed to possess the stone. Scott is given protection by the Irish Republican Army in the Hebrides Islands and uses the stone's prophetic powers to his advantage and dismay. In the end the accuracy of the Brahan Seer's prophecies seals the fate of the world we know.
