My rules: No players. No flirts. No cocky jerks.

My exception: Dawson Marsh.

Dawson might be every girl’s crush in this small town, but not mine. I can appreciate him from a distance, and that suits me fine.

Except that one time he kissed me. Up close and personal.

Once is a mistake. But the second time? Sublime.

The man should come with some kind of a warning sign: Not safe for work! Hot to the touch! But what kind of girl can’t handle a little friends with benefits action, right?

The one who missed the most important warning: Danger, risk of falling.

*This is a full-length, standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA.

I usually don't enjoy books that go back and forth where one chapter is from the hero's point of view and the other from the heroine's point of view, but this book was done so well I overlooked that! Still not a favorite, but the story was just that good! Evie and Dawson both have issues. His stemming from abuse he endured from his father when he was younger, and her's from the loss of her twin. They battle their depression in different ways. Evie is introverted and quiet. Dawson is extroverted and brash. Neither of them is what their actions make them seem to be. One kiss. Will it mean they will be together or might misunderstandings pull their burgeoning relationship apart. Can either of them believe in a long-term relationship? Will they be able to have the type of healing that love brings? Gosh...I've never read this author before, but I certainly will be reading the first two books in this series as soon as possible. Great voice, and a story that takes on the pain of depression and helps these characters grow and heal.

Fundraising, a ruined dress and a kiss. Love this series. Always nice that the books stand alone but definitely good in order as well. In this one Evie and Dawson have flirted for the past two years and suddenly Dawson kisses Evie when he gives her a ride. Dawson has flirted with everyone so Evie thinks nothing of it other then to say she is not his type. This is a must read to find out about both their pasts and see if they can get over their preconceptions about each other.

I'm such a massive fan of J.H. Croix and this book has just solidified my respect for her writing style and her ability to weave a story that enchants, entertains and melts your heart. Break my Fall features Dawson and Evie and I loved everything about the two of them. The two have tried to fight their attraction to each other but some forces cannot be resisted. Each of the two is struggling with emotional issues, each for different reasons and different reactions but when they give in to their chemistry will their respective issues keep them emotionally isolated from each other or will they be able to help each other heal and build something strong and lasting together? I received a free copy of this book directly from Bad Boy Update and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Dawson and Evie have been friends for a few years and work together. Evie has been keen on Dawson for awhile but knows that his flirty no commitment ways are not for her. Both characters are suffering from depression/ptsd for things in their past. It gets to a point where the chemistry between the two sets of a spark that sends them on a new journey together. A great steamy story.

4.5 Stars This is book three in the Swoon series and it features Dawson and Eve. They’ve known each other for a couple years and he’s always been the consummate flirt/practical joker with everyone. Most say he flirts/jokes differently with her but she’s not so sure. He so good looking and sexy that he couldn’t possibly be interested in someone like her…right? These two are setting the sheets on FIRE! They both have issues but if he doesn’t learn to deal with his, he could lose her forever. This is a sweet and hot romance with sexy cowboys and first responders. I can’t wait for the next book in this fantastic series!

This is an incredible addition to the "Swoon" series. A stand alone story that is fantastic! The story in nicely developed and very well written. Love the characters and the plot! Dawson and Evie's story is great! A very captivating story that keeps you flipping pages until the very end. This might be my favorite story in the series.

Dawson and Evie were just so sweet and perfect together! They both carry a lot of baggage and have to learn to overcome their struggles and insecurities to get their HEA. Their story was easy to read, entertaining and I enjoyed their fun banter. Chemistry between them was off the charts and steamy hot! There were also emotional moments dealing with Evie's childhood trauma and Dawson's depression. It was really heartwarming to read how both Evie and Dawson grew stronger together and helped each other with their struggles. This was another winner in this series and I can't wait to see what's in store for Dani and Wade! I received an advanced copy of this book from BadBoyUpdate and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Dawson is known for his playboy ways and big time flirting but with Evie that’s a whole different kind of flirting, and everyone but them have noticed. Dawson has a dark past that he doesn’t like to talk about and it’s also part of the reason that he doesn’t do relationships. But with Evie he wants to open up and let her in, he’s just scared of the feelings he has for her and that she won’t feel the same way. Evie has her own insecurities and believes that someone as hot as Dawson would never be interested in her. It doesn’t take long for those insecurities to be squashed with the way Dawson can’t get enough of her. Then he suddenly becomes distant and pushes her away leaving her confused and heartbroken. I cannot get enough of J.H. Croix’s books. They are so addictive. These two were hot from the start and their chemistry was undeniable. I loved it from beginning to end. Dawson is so passionate towards Evie and her insecurities melt away the second Dawson even looks at her. Can’t wait for the next one.

Woo! Another story right out of the Stolen Hearts Rescue and lodge! Dawson and Evie's road to all things happily ever after won't be easy- but have no fear, the "swoon" is in full effect and ready to lend a helpful *nudge* along the way! Dawson is a flirt, with a taste for commitment-free hookups, a pretty well-known fact at work, and surrounding areas. That doesn't deter most women, except Evie, not a hookup type of girl, she steers clear of the love em and leaves em kind. She gets along fine with Dawson, even flirts for fun, but things go off course.. way off. Regardless of what they say, or do the steamroll of crazy has begun and they're ve stunned- sort of... FWB, they decide, too bad the demons of the past they've been carrying are taking over this ride. It'll be up Dawson and Evie what happens next. Once again, Ms.Croix writes a thoughtful, layered, emotionally charged, not overly dramatized ( Thank YOU) story that delves into mental health, frustration, misconceptions, refreshingly. Only to intertwine a hotter than hades passion and swoon-worthy romance, making it the full package read! One I highly suggest checking out for yourself!

Third book in this wonderful series and finally we get Dawson's story It is a emotional roller coaster ride that you will need tissue for Dawson Marsh and Evie Blair both work together at Stolen Hearts Rescue he is an out and out flirt and a bit of a one and done man but he wants to change. There is a depp attraction between these two but Evie wants something permanent. Can Dawson overcome his inner demons to be the man she needs and wants These two both have emotional baggage and walls around their hearts but maybe they can overcome everything if the love between them is strong enough.

Such Swooneliciousness!!! This book is part of the Swoon Series and features Dawson and Evie. They are great together. Perfect chemistry and back stories. Thanks to the author with giving a male the effects of living with a substance abusing parent, namely depression and anxiety which more times than not go together. The location where this series takes place is ideal and the characters are wonderful to get to know. It’s refreshing to see a bully not supported. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and series, and the author’s other amazing books for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. I received this ARC for my honest opinion so I’m leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.

Attending a fundraiser for Stolen Hearts Rescue, Dawson Marsh decides to head home early. An aggressive man grabs Evie Blair, leaving marks on her arm, and Dawson pushes him away from her. In the jostling that follows, wine gets dumped on Evie, so Dawson offers her a ride home since they both lived at Stolen Hearts Lodge, a high-end adventure lodge where they also both worked. Dawson is a major flirt, constantly teasing. But because of that image, Evie has avoided any kind of closeness with him because she is not a one-night-stand type of girl. As Evie starts to get out of his truck before Dawson makes it around to her side, she stumbles on the running board and he grabs her as she collides hard against him. The sudden need to kiss her is overwhelming, and he finds himself doing just that! When she didn’t slap him, he kissed her again. When she asked what that was all about, his nervous laugh sent the wrong message and she stormed away. Dawson in particular has a lot of baggage involving a genetic predisposition to depression. He finds that being around Evie makes things better. Somehow being with her always made him smile. He found himself laughing often, too. He also had a place, a rock in the woods where he laid back and watched the stars. It comforted him when his depression got more than he could handle. When one evening Evie showed up, claiming the rock to be her place as well, they agreed to share and talked a little about how it eased their pain, Evie missing her twin sister who died in a boating accident. For both of them, being here cleared their heads and made things right again. Then she reached over and held his hand. Was she seeing another side of the man? When Dawson slid off the rock to go back to his cabin, once again, he felt compelled to kiss her. But this time he told her he had wanted to. When she said she wasn’t his type, he denied having a type and acknowledged their kiss was the best he’d ever experienced. He walked her home, hand-in-hand, and slept better than he ever had. Dawson ran into Evie where she was having coffee and again tried to convince her he wanted more than casual with her. He even invited her to dinner, but had to leave when he had to respond to a fire department call. Their romance attempt is on again-off again as Dawson works through his problems. He and Evie are good together, healing each other. Can Dawson get his life together and try to stabilize a serious relationship with Evie? Will she finally believe he is being serious about wanting to be with her? This was a well-written book and a pleasure to read. It takes real-life problems and deals with them in a helpful way. The characters are likable and the story line keeps the reader’s attention. Grab your copy and enjoy!

This is the third book in this series and I have loved them all. There is just something about the way this author writes that draws you in and will not let you go. This book for me was a very romantic, dramatic, and emotion read. Dawson and Evie were so cute together. The chemistry between them was very hot! Both of them carried baggage from there past and both were trying to deal with it. It seemed when they were together they were stronger then when they were apart. Will they realize this before it is too late? I highly recommend picking up this book and finding out. This book and this whole series will not disappoint you. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

ONE INCREDIBLE TREAT!!! OMG! Wow! I'll get it out eventually. Maybe. Croix totally nailed this bad boy 100% on point with so many emotions it kept me riveted and frozen to my seat. I couldn't put this little jewel down had I wanted to. Sparks fly as drama, tension and intrigue ensues in epic proportions. One engaging storyline and thrilling plot propels this baby roaring to life brilliantly. Twists and turns abound with unexpected circumstances that make for one thrilling experience. Witnessing the trials and tribulations the characters struggled through blazed this baby together smooth as silk without a single crease. The characters are authentic and realistic with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Awesome job Croix, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Book 3 in the Swoon Series follows Dawson and Evie, who both work at Stolen Heart Rescue and Lodge. Evie is a waitress while Dawson is a first responder. There’s not a lot for me to say that won’t give the whole book away. It’s a friends to lovers through good times and bad. Both characters have suffered loss and have battled depression in their life and in this story, although brief, it gives you insight on what happened. Taking Evie to meet his mom and brother gave a little more backstory as to what happened in Dawson past that has made him the man he is today. It does take some time for Dawson to fight his demons and finally see that he is in love with Evie It doesn’t help that his mom compared him to his dad a little bit and once you know the story you will understand Dawson’s standpoint on that. Although part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. The characters are all intertwined so you will get a glimpse of them and if you haven’t read the previous story’s it might give some spoilers away. It’s definitely one of those stories that once you pick it up you will lose track of time and the next thing you know you are finished with the book and you stayed up past your bedtime. I received this as an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Love this series! This is Dawson and Evie's story. Dawson has the reputation as a player, even if it's not totally true. He does love to tease and flirt, but everyone except Evie sees that it's different with her. Evie has been fighting her feelings for Dawson for 2 years, but all it takes is one truck ride back to the lodge to change her world. One kiss tilts both their words on their axis and now they will have to work their way through their new feelings and move past the baggage they both have and open up to each other. I love the banter, the drama, the passion, all the feels! I can't wait for the next book!!

Dawson Marsh and Evie Blair finally get their story. Who would have believed that the flirt was really interested in the quiet, shy girl? Not Evie. They were coworkers who tease each other, but Evie could never accepted that Dawson was really interested in her, she did not want to get close to anyone and risk getting hurt. Until the kiss that changed them both. This story was heartfelt. Dawson is the consummate flirt, never serious about anything, but underneath, he battles with depression. Evie is not the confident women she portrays since her twin sister died and being bullied in high school. Their story evolved and you see how the characters grow and deal with their baggage. Depression is a really serious thing, even for people like Dawson who looks like he has it all, there is a lot of baggage that affects his relationships with everyone. It was wonderful how the story developed and you see the struggles the both went through to get them to accept that a relationship was possible. I loved the story, Ms. Croix did another wonderful job of tell their HEA. I can’t wait for Dani and Wade’s book! I received an advanced copy for my honest review.

Just loved this well written, page turning, witty book. Dawson's reputation is a flirt, and a big time player . Evie doesn't do one night stands. This is their story. Does Evie finally figure out Dawson is more. His reputation is just that, a reputation. Far, far from the truth. You will enjoy the ride with Evie to the truth. Love, family, thoughtfulness included. I highly recommend this book. I haven't found a book of MS Croix that I don't love.
