Breaking Pointe, by Miriam Wenger Landis, is a terrific sequel to her first book, Girl in Motion. Again, the reader is given an inside look at the way personalities and politics influence the career of a ballerina. I particularly liked the device of a found journal from a former company member which helped to introduce characters and provided opportunities for input from other perspectives. If you're thinking of dancing your heart out to become a ballerina, read this these books and learn to find out the true character of the professional company you seek.
Anna Linado is back in this follow-up to Girl in Motion. This time she's graduated from School of Ballet New York and is dancing with a professional company in LA. The author knows this world intimately, having danced professionally. Beautifully written, this is a must for all girls who want a career in dance.
Brooding Anna Linado from GIRL IN MOTION is back in this stellar second novel. A very authentic look at the life of a professional ballet dancer.
Great fictional ballet novel! Must read for all aspiring ballerinas.
