Gordon's journey from street level heroin addiction to Christian, mechanical engineer, and father of seven is remarkable, if not incredible. His relentless pursuit of how God made life work has taken him through more than 30 years of Bible study and Christian experience. The convergance of those rare components produces a book that is captivating and profoundly insightful in how to experience God's power in breaking an cycle of sin, including generations-long destructive family cycles. He write with the logic and clarity of an engineer, but without the 'geek speak' usually associated with brilliance. His style is straightforward and practical, 'putting all the cookies on the bottom shelf'. It's a great read, not only for people seeking to break destructive cycles in their own lives, but for pastors and other family members who want to understand and help them.

When I first read this I felt as if the author had actually been documenting my life specifically. Each of us has struggles and behaviors that keep us from experiencing the freedom that God has intended for our lives. The author has a way of detailing the process of accepting that freedom, and it was great that he shared his struggles and his journey. A very detailed and logical approach to accepting a wonderful and free gift!

Great guide to breaking those chains that keep you down. It gives good direction on how to find that ellusive happiness that an on going sin can keep you from. The author obviously understands what it is like to fight for freedom from sin. Read it!

This book is a must read, it takes a look into what causes us to continue to sin when we desire to do good. I delt with a few things from my own life that had been causing me to sin. I am now free from several behaviors that I just could not avoid in my life before reading this book. I would recommend that everyone read this book, it helped me and I know it will help you.
