About the Author

Brooke is a wife and mother of 4 kids. She is a cosmetologist of 21 years, and loves to do hair while she chats with her clients. She never knew she wanted to write children's books, until her daughter and husband brought her in on the Breakout Bart project to help finish the story. Her hobbies include: writing, painting, rollerblading, paddle boarding, baking, cooking, and laughing!

Leila wrote the poem that inspired the book Breakout Bart when she was just 13. She is currently in her Freshman year of high school. Her hobbies include: writing, reading, listening to musicals, hanging out with her friends, and, surfing.

Jesse is a husband and father of 4. He grew up in Southern California. After 15 years away from California, he recently returned and resides in Temecula. His hobbies include: skateboarding, surfing, wood working, drawing, working in the garage and spending time with his 4 kids.He spent the early years of his career as an electrician and currently works as an electrical engineer. At times it can be soul crushing to sit in front of a computer day in and day out. After a friend didn't return to work, Jesse learned of his untimely death, he realized that life was too short to work long hours and miss out on family time. And thus, the story of Breakout Bart was born.

BREAKOUT BART is a family collaboration. We enjoyed the process that became this book and ultimately the brand BREAKOUT. None of us had previous experience in writing, illustrating, painting or anything else that it took to create this book, but we enjoyed learning. It has been a 'breakout' experience for us. We hope that you enjoy the story of Bart and Little Bear.
