Following the release of 2007's Unfold, Marié Digby kept herself busy by working on two concurrent albums: Second Home, her Japanese studio debut, and Breathing Underwater, her second American release. Both were released in 2009, with Breathing Underwater signaling her transformation from an acoustic-based songwriter into mainstream pop diva. These songs may have been largely written by Digby, but they sound little like the summery material she penned for her debut, focusing instead on a slick mix of R&B production and layered arrangements. Tracks like "Daybreak" embrace that change to commercial effect, wrapping Digby's melodies in layers of piano, booming percussion, and minor-key ambiance.

Breathing Underwater is indeed in a different style than Marie's usual style, but if is still incredible. Marie's voice is so pure and she has a wonderful talent for making her voice add emotion (rather than leaving it all to the lyrics like many singers.) The song themselves are beautifully written and the words are honest and open as well. I absolutely recommend this album! I also definitely encourage you to check out her other music as well because this is different than her usual sound.
Marie Digby is a talented singer. However, she sounds like she is trying to be something she is not on this album. She should have stuck with her piano roots. Don't get me wrong the songs are pretty, just not her, she wrote her name on someone else's painting.
That's right all i have to say is boo. And i want the few minutes of life given back to me that i did listen to this mediocre heard a thousand times before crapolla. Because it sucks. And i don't mean a little i mean a lot. So anyone reading. Don't waste your time.
Marie is amazing! she has a beautiful voice.... i liked this album just as much as her frist album "Unfold". Of course, it is different in sound. But, hollywood records is in charge of what is released.... in time, marie will be able to give us her ture sound again, but for now.. she'll/we will have to wait until hollywood records relizes that we dont want what they want.
She out did her last album. This is one of my favorite albums. She is simply awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hip hop meets crap pop. What is Hollywood producing these days? please. next.
