I love this author. This is a fun series that is full of excitement and action. This is book four in the series and we get to continue seeing how Clair and her crew grow and become stronger people. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did.

Shelley Adina has created a terrific series and I'm hoping she continues beyond this fourth book. As a retired physics and math instructor, I've always looked for positive roll models for my students. Particularly for my female STEM students, Magnificent Devices shows a female roll model / hero who excels at engineering and science...and enjoys it. Also, much as I love the adult fantasy fiction of Charlaine Harris (NC17), Jeaniene Frost(NC17), and Laurell K Hamilton (NC50), their sexuality could easily offend some students, even in college. Delightfully, the Magnificent Devices sci-fi series is one I would feel comfortable recommending to any of my students, male or female. And no, as a PhD in Physics, I realize the science here isn't always real science, any more than Star Trek science was real science. But always real in the Magnificent Devices series is her love of science. And I believe love of science like hers (and her failure to accept failure) is what inspires each new generation of high achievers.

This book is like a breath of clean air, refreshing, riveting and completely unsoiled and wholesome. Yes, wholesome. There is romantic tension, boy is there romantic tension but it’s purely swoon worthy romance. This is a story I would happily share with my 14 year old daughter, but it is sure to grip even the loyal steampunk fans.  The story is filled with gadgetry but to my utter elation it is also packed with magnificent heroines that are quick thinking, witty, motivated, self sacrificing, moral and beyond petty jealousy. Absolutely TRUE HEROINES, and there is not just one but many plus a few in training. Speaking of which, I’m quoting a note from Shelley…”but I really feel that Maggie and Lizzie need their own book or books, plural.” Do you see me doing the happy book dance, cause its happening right now! I have loved this series from the very first book, Brilliant Devices is an amazing continuation to this series. What a completely re-read worthy series. White knuckling anticipation till your next adventure, please write fast Shelley Adina. This whole series was really great! This book was a little short (actually they all are), but the author still managed to pack tons of great plot and character development into it! I loved the adventure. The romance in all of these books is really light, but it's hard to be disappointed because it was just too much fun to hang around for the ride.
