Ten-year-old Myrtle Beckle lives on Sugarbird Lane with Blabbermouth Samantha and the No Eating Vegetable Club. This vegetable patrol has banned every kid on their block from eating any vegetables, which is why they mock Myrtle, the vegetable nerd, for her bizarre fascination with broccoli. While dodging their antics, Myrtle plants broccoli seeds in her backyard in hopes of one day becoming a scientist and finding a cure for cancer through broccoli. This humorous, educational, and inspiring chapter book, filled with secret clubs, rivalry, broccoli experiments, and more, proves that the voice of a child should never be ignored.

Myrtle may be small but her heart and vision are huge. A great book with wonderful illustrations!
Broccoli Chronicles encourages young children to take a stand for what they believe in, regardless of discouragement and negativity from other people. As educators, it can be difficult these days to find books that bring adventure, emotion and humor all rolled into one. Myrtle reminded me of my own childhood and the adventures that I had to face, whether good or bad. She is quite a character! Highly recommend this book!
I love this book! It's a beautifully written story about a 10-year old girl named Myrtle, who is smart and funny. She's a sassy character that doesn't give up. This book is great for any kid who wants to read a cool story about a smart girl. My 3rd grader read it and enjoyed it. She said her favorite character is Myrtle because she's smart and funny! This is a great read.
This is an excellent book for people of all ages, but primarily for children ages 7-12. It is an encouraging and inspiring book that delves into the mind of Myrtle Beckle. This spunky and lovable character is full of hope and excitement. Despite all rivalry and opposition, she still desires to change the world.
