The Birmingham Rebels series introduces an unforgettable team of chiseled football gods—and the daring, provocative games they play behind closed doors.

Birmingham Rebels offensive linemen Beau Perez and Cass Zielinski are inseparable, on and off the field. Cass, the captain with the cowboy swagger, is a loose cannon. Beau, the veteran tight end, is cool under pressure. And ever since they were caught on tape in a steamy threesome, their exploits have fueled more than a few tabloid headlines—and naughty fantasies.

Marian Treadwell knows all about the video. And now that she’s the Rebels’ new assistant offensive coach, she can’t look at Beau and Cass without picturing their hard, naked bodies—with her pressed in between. Marian would like nothing more than to indulge those impulses, but she knows better than to get too close to her players, a bunch of adrenaline-fueled alpha males who don’t always follow the rules.

Just the thought of sharing the gorgeous yet guarded Marian drives Cass wild. At first, Beau isn’t sure she’s right for them . . . and lately, all he desires is a little alone time with Cass to explore their new intimacy. But it’s only a matter of time before Cass breaks through both of their defenses. Because when seduction is the game plan, he always plays to win.

Chapter 1

There were days when you owned the world, and days when the world chewed you up and shat you out. Cass Zielinski, center for the redheaded stepchild of the National Football League, the Birmingham Rebels, had woken up thinking it was going to be the latter. First meeting after the draft, after a dismal second season and their complete and utter failure to make the play-offs, he’d expected some trash talk thrown his way and the offensive-captain patch to get ripped off his jersey. Instead he sat staring at the prettiest coach’s assistant he’d ever met, while the Rebels’ head offensive coach, Mike Richards, gave the traditional “This Is Our Year” opening speech. The speech wasn’t quite polished yet, but there were only four of them at the meeting, so he had time before trying to bullshit the rest of the team.

“Hat.” At the sound of the whispered word, Cass looked over at his best friend, Beau Perez. Beau gestured to the hat on the table. It was sitting right in front of the new assistant, and she couldn’t put her armful of papers down.

“Hat,” Beau whispered again.

Cass clumsily yanked the cowboy hat off the table. He grew up in Texas, where people made room for hats on the table when there was nowhere else to put them. “Sorry, ma’am,” he said politely to the new assistant, who was staring at him. Marian, her name was Marian.

She blushed and smiled nervously, then looked away as she set her papers down at last. Damn, she was pretty. She had long, straight blond hair, part of it pulled back in some sort of professional-looking style, leaving the rest to hang down her back. Under the harsh lights, it shone brightly against the dark blue of her suit jacket. She was buttoned up like it was Sunday. He could still tell she was fit, long and lean and athletic. When they’d shaken hands she’d reached his chin in her low-heeled shoes. He was six four, so he guessed she was about five seven. Tall for a woman. She had a light tan to her skin, as if she spent time outdoors, not in a tanning bed. She made him think of those sexy beach-volleyball babes. Mike had told them she’d worked at a small Division III college in the northeast before coming to Birmingham.

Beau pinched his arm and he jerked away, glaring at him. “What?” he mouthed.

Beau wasn’t a captain, but where Cass went, Beau followed. It was part of the deal when they’d signed. Beau gestured toward Mike with his head, frowning.

Beau looked damn scary when he was frowning. He was six-six, with hair so dark it looked black. He had that sort of coppery skin Mexicans had, pretty and soft-looking. Not that Beau looked soft. His face was all angles, his nose broken a time or two, his neck as thick as pretty Marian’s thigh, Cass would bet. Beau’s mouth was fierce and wide, with thin lips, but he had a sharp indent above, making his upper lip bow. Cass jerked his gaze away from Beau’s mouth. Beau was looking at him, exasperated, and rolled his eyes at Cass. He looked like an exotic Hulk, but his brown-gold eyes full of laughter ruined the comparison. Beau got those pretty eyes and skin tone and hair color from his mama. Cass had met her. His daddy was some handsome stranger who had some fun and disappeared. According to Beau’s mom, he’d been tall and rugged, like Beau. Too damn bad he’d walked away. He could have had a son in the NFL.

“Cass? Anything to add?” Mike asked. Cass turned his gaze to the coach, who was standing there, arms crossed, his expression clearly showing he knew Cass hadn’t been paying a damn bit of attention. Mike was in his late forties, and with his short, graying hair he looked every inch the suburban dad who shuttled his kids to football and soccer practice and mowed the lawn every Saturday. In truth he was a workaholic who’d been divorced twice and had no kids. He paid someone else to mow the lawn of the house he barely saw.

“Nope,” Cass said, covering, frowning and nodding his head as if he knew what was going on. “Not right now. I think you said it all. I may have something after we talk.” Nice way to make a good impression on the front office, Cass thought, mentally kicking himself in the butt.

“I’ll just bet you will,” Mike said sarcastically. “You know we drafted a good running back in Tom Kelly,” he went on, getting down to business. “We traded for two second-round picks next season, as well. We’re still building this team.”

They sure as shit were. “Tom was a mediocre player,” Cass said, trying not to grind his teeth as he talked. Beau had told him that pissed people off. “And we got Danny Smith in the trade. We didn’t need two new running backs. We had a chance to grab Taylor Reutsch when he went free agent, instead.”

“Reutsch wasn’t a good fit for this team,” Mike said stiffly. “We discussed this.”

First book I've read by this author. Had some hot scenes. Please read the description to make sure you'll like the situation. Onto the next in the series!

Well …well..well. This was certainly a hot…hot book and certainly different than what I am used to reading. I will say if you are not into or easily offended by M/F/M, M/M/F, M/M, or F/Multiple partners then this might not be the book for you. Overall though, with the exception of the final scene, it was fairly tastefully written. You already have two men in love with each other but they never acted on it, until they meet Mariam. Mariam is hired as a coach, for the Birmingham Rebels. This is a team what you might consider as being put out to pasture. They are all sort of misfits brought together to become a reputable team. Cass is immediately attracted to Mariam. Where Cass goes, Beau goes. Since Cass wants Mariam, so does Beau. They come as a package. Mariam has always had a fantasy of having more than one partner at a time but because of a previous experience she has not acted on it any further. But Cass and Beau are able to win Mariam’s trust and heart. She is the one who points out the true feelings Cass and Beau have for each other and encourage them to go for it. Of the two, Cass is definitely the dominant male, with a temper, while Beau is the sweet caring one. The secondary characters add an additional fun aspect to the story line. Even though this is a sports story, it is all about the football players and not the football game. I hope in the future installments you get to see the team come together and become a winning NFL team. Look forward to reading about the other players.

RATING 4.5 STARS Broken Play is book one in the Birmingham Rebels series by Samantha Kane. “If we don’t make it here, we don’t make it anywhere. We’re the redheaded stepchild of the NFL. The place trouble goes to either fade away or break out.” Cass Zielinski and Beau Perez are best friends, roommates, and members of the Birmingham Rebels. Cass is team captain. Several years ago, Cass helped Beau out in a time of need when he was dealing with dependency. They have been inseparable ever since. This team is their last stop. They want nothing more than to make a name for this team. Well, there is something they want more, Marian Treadwell. Marian has been hired by the Rebels as an assistant coach. This is her big break, her dream come true. To coach professional football. Right away there is a connection with Cass and Beau. But she’s a coach and they are players. In more ways than one she believes. But for how long will she really be able to stay away from them. There is something in Marian’s past, though, that she is keeping hidden. Something that damaged her and keeps her from trusting. “As crazy as it was, she was sure she needed Beau’s mouth on hers more than anything else. He was the anchor she sought as her world spun out of control again.” The Rebels have spent most of their budget on a new player, Danny Smith. Little did they know that Marian knows Danny. Danny is refusing to show up at mini camp. But he doesn’t realize that Marian is there. She wants him to show up on his own, without her influence. What is the relationship between Marian and Danny? What is the hold she has on him? Why is Danny so angry with the football profession and all it’s players? I read this series out of order, the second book first, then going back and reading the first book. Where the second book was a little sillier in parts, I think this book had a little more of a serious tone to it. The main characters had serious issues to deal with. Cass and Beau knew that Marion was the perfect fit for them. She was their missing link. She made them whole. But before she can completely enter into this new relationship with them, she has to somehow find a way to heal from her own past. Of course there are plenty of sexy times. And these are hot, steamy, perfect, sexy times. This ragtag group of football players are coming together as a family. Do they have a chance to get into the playoffs? Can Cass and Beau convince Marion that she is meant for them? I already met Ty, the quarterback, in the second book, so it was fun to go back and see him before he met Randi. As in the second book, I found these characters to be fun, loveable, and just plain entertaining. And of course, there is the hotness factor. I have loved both of these books in this series and can’t wait to see what might come next. Samantha Kane has a new fan in me. “The Rebels are a crazy lot of misfits and rejects and we’re going to make them into a team. A real team. A winning team. And we’re going to show them that being different doesn’t mean you can’t be happy. We’re going to show them what happiness really is.”

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Cass and Beau play football for the Birmingham Rebels, a last-chance football team through the NFL. Mariam is a new coach on the team. As soon as Cass sees her, he must have her. Mariam is on no-players rule so this is easier said than done. After seeing a steamy tape starring Cass and Beau, Mariam can’t help but fill in her own fantasies about the duo. This was a really good story. It was steamy, had a great plot and I really liked the all of the characters. There was only part at almost the end that I didn’t really care for, but overall, I highly recommend.

Excellently written, great editing. The story grabs you and yanks you in. Even if you don't like football (me). It's a shame that someone who is offended at m/m or menage is able to rate this so lowly. The summary seemed quite clear to me that this book is menage. I, also, never got a feel of want me, then you have to take my boyfriend. I didn't get that at all. If you like menage, with hot scenes; a book with lots going on besides sex; a well written book about relationships that also happens to be about menage; then you will love this book.

Spoiler......... I'm not a prude by any stretch but what's the deal with bisexual men? I'd like this mentioned in the narrative. I personally don't find it attractive when a woman falls in love with a guy and has to accept his boyfriend to get to him. It's not my cup of tea.

Cass and Beau come as a package deal. Everyone knows that. What they don't know was that Cass and Beau have never admitted their feelings to one another. Marian comes in as an assistant coach and changes everything. Marian has a past she chooses to hide. Both for safety and for personal reasons. She is afraid to admit she is attracted to both Cass and Beau, since she should not get involved with players. There is no written rule, but until recently - there were no women coaches. Cass has been attracted to Beau for as long as he can remember. He has been afraid to act on the attraction for fear he would lose the tight friendship they have together. He likes being the strong one, that Beau relies upon. Beau has been in love with Cass for so long. He truly wants things to change but is not sure how to do anything about it. Marian comes along and makes him feel strong and capable. All three have to learn how to trust again if any kind of relationship between them is going to work. Can they help ease the pain of he past? Is is possible to overcome you fear? I thought this book was amazing. It should friendship, trust, and strength. I found the characters and banter loving and fun! ***This ARC was given from and its publishers for review purposes only.

3.5 stars – rounded I’ve not been a huge reader of ‘sport’ romance, but this one looked as if it would hit all the marks for me. This is a story meant ONLY for readers who want to bask in steam, a sauna has nothing on this read! Bean and Cass are football players: boyz to the end and just a little scandalous. A night of passion was videotaped and released to the press: the threesome was memorable for all involved. Marian is a new coach for the Rebels, and her night with Bean and Cass making tabloid fuel and fodder is a bit of a difficult situation. But it’s not the embarrassing private moment made public, it is those niggling desires for both the men, and the decisions about what to do. It was easy to understand the confusion and conflicts that each character had in this situation: the attraction was still strong, and everyone seems to have caught feelings. But there was a touch of depth and exploration of those emotions missing for me. While their interactions were wonderful, and felt plausible, I needed more: more feeling on the page that wasn’t integrally tied to the very explicit, very steamy and evocative scenes. With some wonderful integration of secondary characters, interest on and off the field for this story was slowly building around the moments between Cass, Marian and Bean. There is potential here for some terrific growth and exploring the complexities of a non-traditional relationship, but it didn’t go far enough to satisfy on every level. I’m hoping for more depth and exploration as the series continues: Kane can certainly bring her characters in and give them voices and presence that intrigues, now I want them to grow. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

"ARE YOU READY FOR TWO SMOKIN’ HOT FOOTBALL PLAYERS?!" OMG, Broken Play is one sizzling hot read. Cass and Beau are two of the NFL Birmingham Rebels’ hottest football gods—on the field and between the sheets. Cass Zielinski and Beau Perez are inseparable. When Cass accepted the deal with the Rebels, Beau came with that package. Cass and Beau live together, play ball together, and yep, they take their women together. But now their threesome just landed them into hot water, and it's too hot for even these bad boys of football. Cass has been ready to settle his wild life down, but that doesn't mean giving up Beau. He wants a woman that will accepted and commit to both Him and Beau. And when Marian Treadwell signs on to be the new assistant coach, she’s it for Cass. Cass is goner for the beautiful, strong, confident Marian. Now all he has to do is convince Marian she's the right woman for him and Beau, and then get Marian to their bed. Cass has a game plan, and the name of the game is seducing and winning Marian's heart. Marian has wanted and waited for a chance to coach an NFL team. Marian loves football, but not football players. And yeah, Cass Zielinski totally pushes her lust button, but that’s not why Marian is there, to end up Cass's bed. No matter how hard Marian tries to resist Cass and Beau, her fantasy about these two sexy men of football is gaining ground on her heart. And Cass and Beau are fixing to score a touchdown with her lady parts and her heart if she doesn't block these two beautiful, sexy men. When it comes sport’s Romance, it's no doubt that my favorite is football players. But Broken Play took me way over the top of my own hot sport’s romance play book with these three beautiful and passionate characters. Cass, Beau and Marian are burning up the sheets and healing their broken hearts. I recommend Broken Play as a smokin’ hot must read.

Samantha Kane sets the bar for historical erotic romance and just set the new standard for contemporary erotic romance with Broken Play. The Birmingham Rebels are the worst team in the NFL. They are where players go when they are washed up. Cass Zielinski is the center for the team and his best friend Beau Perez is the tight end. Part of Cass's deal with the Rebels is Beau goes everywhere he goes. He had pulled Beau out of his addiction and has supported Beau since. As a pair, they are notorious for a sex tape that had gone viral. As the captain of the team, Cass is determined to make the Rebels the best team in the league. Marian Tredwell has made the jump from coaching college football to coaching in the NFL. She is well aware of the sex tape and is finding it hard to be in the same room with Cass and Beau and the images from the tape playing in her head. Marian has a scarred past herself along with a betrayal by her father. Cass understands that there is something in her past that is troubling her, but he is taking things way too slow for Beau. Once they get past her defences, the heat between the three of them is released. I was thrilled to see that Samantha Kane had a new contemporary novel coming out but I was reluctant to pre-order at first because I am not a football fan. I decided to order it and I am glad I took that chance. I am now a Birmingham Rebels fan. There were parts of the book that I read two or three times. This isn't just a quickie erotic novel. There is depth to the characters and their relationships with each other. The next Birmingham Rebels book is about Tyler, one of my favorite supporting characters. I am waiting for Donnie's book because there are questions about Marian's father that I hope get answered. If you liked this novel, check out the Brothers in Arms series.

4.5 Star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, love, secrets, and heartbreak. This is Marian, Cass and Beau’s story. Cass and Beau have been friends for years and they enjoy sharing woman. They both want Marian but she is fighting the attraction. Something in her past is holding her back. Will Cass and Beau be able to get her to be there woman? They have already made the team aware that she is there’s. Now they have to convince her. Marian wants them both but can she really have them? Will what happened in the past happen again? Can she take a chance on them? What happens when her protector comes to town? Will he make everything harder for her and the men? Or in the end will he be part of her healing? Can she really make it work with two men? Will they both want her forever? I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this story.

Cass and Beau are football stars, but not for what they do on the field. One video of them having sex with a girl together and they’re legends for all the wrong things. Marian was hired on to help coach the Rebel’s a last stop football team that no one is betting on. Marian knows about the video and how she felt while watching it, hot, but she knows she can’t have the two guys without it jeopardizing her career and theirs. Except Cass and Beau aren’t in on that plan and they’ll do anything to have Marian, each other, and a great year in football. First off this book is hot, right off the bat we get sexy Cass’ thoughts and they are explicit. He and Beau have been best friends for a long time and while they’ve never said it to each other they’re also in love. Beau and Cass wasn’t Marian with them always the more they get to know her, but she has a past and they don’t know how to get her to open up. I won’t say much more because I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that this is a very hot book with more than m/m/f so just beware of hotness factors. I have to say though despite all the hotness and awesomeness about this book the ending sexy scene just didn’t seem all that realistic to me where the rest of the book did. I just didn’t feel like this would happen, but what do I know I’ve never been in football. If you read this you’ll know what I’m talking about. Other than the unrealistic last scene this book was pretty fabulous with a great cast of characters and hot sexy times.

Great Pkay-worth going back for 2nd and 3rd reads *A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review** Wow! What can I say about this story but yummy! It is so full of angst, humor, sex, chemistry, and FOOTBALL. Birmingham Rebels offensive linemen Beau Perez and Cass Zielinski are inseparable, on and off the field. Cass is the take em down team captain, go get em tiger while Beau is the veteran tight end, Mister Cool Hand Luke-nothing phases him. And since these two men were caught having threesomes on video, nothing has been the same since. They have been lighting up a lot of fantasies for a lot of people. Marian Treadwell is the new Rebels’ new assistant offensive coach and she cant help but think about that video when she looks and Cass and Beau; when she looks at them she would love to be the middle of their kind of sandwich. But she cant because she is their coach and she has to remain objective. I could feel when reading the torment she was going thru but OMG, this lady so wanted to be with these two and it was driving her insane-AND ME TOO. Marian knows if she breaks the rules and lets her guard down, she will lose everything and she can’t afford to let down her guard around these two hunky guys even though her heart is telling her it will be worth it. There are some elements here about the video that plays a HUGE role in this story that if I say too much, it will give spoilers away. Cass and Beau really do like Marian and let me tell you, these hunks want to play some games with the coach and its hard to get her to take them seriously. But when Beau puts his thinking cap on, oh man, is it EVER on. When these men fall, do they ever fall HARD. I loved ALMOST everything about this story except the ending. I would have liked to know how the threesome ended up- would have liked a follow up on how they were doing after everything went after they went thru everything. That is my only negative on such a great story. It is a good story and I loved pretty much everything in a sports romance story. My rating: 4.5 stars ****

This was Crazy Sexy, with Tantalizing Hotness and Passion. A sports romance with plenty of Hot, Muscular hunks that will take you on a boundary pushing relationship full of protectiveness for one another, anticipation, desire and love. Marion Treadwell is the prettiest coach's assistant in the NFL. But she is more than a pretty face she is strong, confident, not afraid of her own power and she has something to prove to her famous father as well as her self. So when she accepts a job with the Birmingham Rebels the last chance team that is struggling to stay in the NFL, she knows that this is her big chance to use her knowledge about football, to make her mark in a mans world. But there is something else that has captured Marion's attention and that is Cass Zielinski and his best friend Beau Perez and the constant replay of their sex tape with another women that went viral that she can't stop watching and wanting. Cass Zielinski is the Offensive Captain of the Birmingham Rebels he has been in the NFL for over ten years, and after the dismal season they had last year he knows that they have got to come together as a team and prove to everybody that they are better than what they did last year or the team will not be around for him to end his career in the front office. His best friend Beau Perez and him go everywhere together they are a packaged deal. They share everything together, every dirty kinky desire and they both are interested in Marion. But Marion is hiding something from her past, that has been holding her back. Will Cass and Beau find out what she is keeping from them? Will they help her work through her past problem. You will have to read to find out. This has quite the finish. Sinfully Sexy leaving the reader breathless and wanting more. Loved it!!!! Lets just say if you want a really steamin' hot football based erotic read then Broken Play is the book for you. Beau and Cass are team mates that share everything. Marian is the new offensive coach who has seen the “press” behind Beau's and Cass's exploits and found it extremely titillating. The major conflicts of this book come in the form of Marian questioning the ethics of engaging in a relationship(s) with the guys she coaches and what is the true nature of Beau's and Cass's relationship? Steam factor is a 10. For those who love MMF plots, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser. For me, I give Broken Play 3.5 Stars. I received this ARC copy of Broken Play from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchange for a honest review.

Holy smokes! Have a fire extinguisher or at least a glass of ice water handy. You will need it! Just wow. Beau, Cass, and Marian, along with the rest of the Rebels blew me away. There was so much yummy menage goodness in this book, but the best part was that there was a fabulous plot to go with it. Kane did a phenomenal job dealing with Marian and Danny's issues as well as Beau and Cass's evolving relationship. Each and every character was well developed and truly added to the story in a meaningful way. I was really impressed by Kane's world building and writing style. I'm looking forward to what Kane comes up with next.

The Birmingham Rebels football team is basically the end of the line for many players, but new assistant coach, Marian Treadwell is trying to change that. She's also caught the eye of offensive lineman Cass Zielinski who has plans for the attractive coach, hoping as well to draft his buddy, Beau Perez in on the action. These BFF's are attached at the hip and when they set their sights on Marian, it's game on. While in college, Marian went through an unspeakable event that shapes her entire life. Being tossed aside by her football coach, father has given her the drive to prove to him she is much more than he thinks she is, and being given the chance to help coach the Rebels is an opportunity of a lifetime. When Marian realizes that Beau and Cass want more than to go by the playbook. Sure, these boys have a reputation for having a good time, but can they prove to Marian that what they want is something more than a passing fling? Marian's deepest, darkest fantasies are a little kinkier than most and they begin to boil over when she realizes that Beau and Cass feed her needs to a T, but she is also a catalyst for Beau and Cass' coming to terms with their relationship. Not only do they take care for each other when the going gets rough, they truly care for each other in a way that Marian understands. Relationships are hard enough when it comes to a couple, but bring in a third party and there is a whole lot going on. Cass really wants their relationship to work, but Marian is holding back and until she lets go of the past, she will never be able to commit to what all three inevitably need. As a reader who first of all reads very few contemporary romances, and knows nothing about the sport of football, I was pleasantly surprised when I delved into BROKEN PLAY by Samantha Kane, who is also one of my favorite historical authors to date. I adore the fact that Marian loves football and is doing a job she is passionate about. That is my primary draw to her, along with the fact that she came though a horrible crime and instead of losing herself, she triumphs over her adversity. Cass and Beau are two pretty sexy alpha males who are hard to miss and easy to fall for. The men play so well off each other, their camaraderie is infectious. I enjoy the fact this book takes place pre-season so the reader has a chance to get to know the ins and outs of the Rebels. BROKEN PLAY is a sizzling read that should not be missed.

I expected this book to be hot and sensual, and it was... oh lordy, was it ever hot! I think my iPad may still be a little scorched actually. What I didn't expect was the depth of the characterization and how easily drawn into their lives I would be almost right from the beginning. I believe the author has a particular skill for character development. I really enjoyed the individual journeys that each character went on and how their stories interacted and played off of each other. I thought the overall plot was good and I loved the individual plot lines contained within. They were all wrapped up nicely, with the exception of one which is my only criticism. ** Minor spoiler** Having the team gel and work together to become a winning team was something that was touched on quite frequently in the book. However, the book ends without bringing this to fruition in my opinion. I was disappointed to not be able to see the team at least win a game in an epilogue or something. This is really only a minor criticism though. Overall, I really loved the book and would happily recommend it to anyone. * I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!! I thought this was going to be another Football/Sports romance. I couldn't have been more wrong. This was a love story but it was HOT!!!!!! Marian takes over as GM of the Birmingham Rebels Football team. She is tough but still has issues that are deep down inside that she likes to keep hidden. Cass and Beau are players on her team, they are very passionate and like to hook up for a threesome now and again. They get to know each other and Marian reveals her deepest wishes. I don't think a book has made me blush before, but this one is steamy. The storyline was amazing, it's fun and the characters are full of love for each other it was great, I loved it. I would love to read more of Samantha Kanes work in the future.
