I have lived all my life in the heart of Giant country (the SF Bay Area) and have always rooted for the Dodgers. Dodger Baseball has always played a big role in the day-to-day life of my entire family. In fact, it might not be an exaggeration to say it is the only thing keeping my Dad alive these days. The Dodgers were on KFI (a clear-channel station) for a few blessed years, but for a majority of the last 47 years we have spent our afternoons listening to Vinnie through a chorus of static. Night games do come in a little better, especially if you are willing to drive all over town to find that ever elusive reception that would allow us to follow the play-by-play. During all these years, Vince Scully has brought us so many memories-both happy and heartbreaking. The choice of Vince Scully to write the foreward for this great book on Dodger history is a very good one, indeed!
