Dan Nadel is a quiet and thoughtful guitarist whose playing, though using the improvisation of jazz, also crosses over into world music, particularly Spanish, Brazilian, Middle Eastern and Latin music. The mostly wordless vocalizing of Michal Cohen heard on four numbers is effective and haunting, especially on "Warm Shades of Beauty." Otherwise the emphasis is on the interplay between Nadel (who is usually in the lead), bassist Lonnie Plaxico and drummer Gilad. The music is atmospheric, subtle and holds one's interest despite its low volume and restrained nature. An impressive debut for Dan Nadel.
