The title of this book refers to more then one transformation. Anyone familiar with the popular animated Disney movie "Brother Bear" may understandingly think that this book is about the character transformation that occurs in the film. This book, however, primarily focuses on the evolution of the process that took place in creating the film. What began as a simple idea for a film about bears set in North America became a long and oftentimes frustrating process that took six years to bring to fruition. All of the tiniest details are given in this informative but occasionally drawn out book. A thorough insight into the creative efforts, talents, and differences involved in the filmmaking process are provided and there are plenty of magnificent pictures and sketches that illustrate the film's steady progression. The reader will certainly gain a greater appreciation for the filmmaking process but may lose interest by the arduous route this book takes to get there. 2003, Disney Editions, Ages 12 up.
