Brown Like Me based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
I purchased this book through Barnes & Noble and I received it last week. I will be returning this book on Tuesday, when the post office is open for business. I purchased the book because I have a bi-racial grandson. Our family is Caucasian. I thought it would help us explain to him why he is a different color than the rest of us, but it did not do this. The story line is very sad. Instead of the parents helping the little girl find joyful things in being brown, all of the things she finds are innate brown objects. And, there was no mention of being adopted into a white family and how she related to this fact at all. Perhaps if we had adopted our grandson 30 or more years ago, this book could have been more meaningful and applicable; but in today’s world, it is very outdated. I will be giving my rating of this book on the B&N webpage.
