Bruckner: Symphony No. 8 based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Aside from the numerous operatic recordings and the wide range of performance genres, the Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan is one of the most famous classical music conductors and also the most popular Bruckner conductor, but not the most insightful. The technical brilliance of Karajan's Bruckner 8th is outstanding and the sheer beauty of the sound of Vienna Philharmonic is superb. Although I question whether the inner depth of Bruckner is communicated in Karajan's 8th, the Wagnerian, dramatic and psychological approach to Bruckner works remarkably well as a performance. Karajan has numerous Bruckner recordings (both live and studio) and has recorded Bruckner symphonies numbers 1 to 9 with the BPO previously.
