Budding Prospects: A Pastoral by T. C. Boyle

Soon to be a comedy series with the pilot episode now streaming on Amazon Video – an “irresistible” (Los Angeles Times) novel about the adventures of three men growing marijuana in Northern California

All Felix Nasmyth and friends have to do is harvest a crop of Cannabis Sativa and half a million tax-free dollars will be theirs. But they haven't reckoned on nosy Northern California-style neighbors, torrential rain, demands of the flesh, and Felix's improbable new love, a wayward sculptress on whose behalf he undertakes a one-man vendetta against a drug-busting state trooper named Jerpbak. As their deal escalates through crises into nightmare, their dreams of easy money get nipped in the bud.

The perfect summer read. BUDDING PROSPECTS is my favorite book. &, yes, I have read more than one. For those who delight in excellent dark humor, this book is a must. I've given away countless copies to my friends. Join Felix & associates as Boyle unravels his perfect plot about life in a Cannabis Summer Camp. Be prepared for a magnificent conclusion but don't skip to the end, because you'd miss a wondrous, literary joyride.

A hilarious, unforgettable, romp-n-stomp good time, BUDDING PROSPECTS delivers more to its audience than it ever will to the three would-be botanists who fill its pages. With a menagerie of idiosyncratic characters, a wellspring of unforeseeable (though never unbelievable) plot twists, and verbose prose that melts amiably on the brain, Boyle is everything a modern literary author should be. Call it a sign of hope that TC has such a devoted following-- nonetheless more readers should try him. If shallow, point-and-shoot bestsellers (John Sanford, Sue Grafton, James Patterson, etc., etc., etc.) are everything that's wrong with modern bookbuyers, TC Boyle and his audience dare to represent something more significant--unique, intelligent, witty, approachable, unforgettable storytelling.

This book is a fast read. It is entertaining as well as educational. I read this while smoking some great green stuff. I suggest this as it made the book laugh out loud funny.
