About the Author

Jay F. Hemdal is the curator of fishes and invertebrates for the Toledo Zoo. In 1996, Jay developed the living terrestrial arthropod collection for the Toledo Zoo, which now comprises more than 25 exhibits and well over 1,000 animals. He lives in Michigan on the bank of the tranquil Raisin River.
