About the Author
Matthew Ball has always had a keen interest in building things. At the age of 10 he was designing things such as an infinitely variable bike sprocket (that never worked), and a pedal hovercraft (that did). Not content with these, he later came across a copy of Ron Champion’s ‘Build your own sports car for as little as £250,’ and built his own sports car for £3000. His interest in moving objects and machines led him to gain a degree in mechanical engineering, a useful qualification when building the first 1k camper.
