I was never in the war but did grow up in that era. My friends who returned were broken and many into drugs. I am saddened by what you went through (since it was never discussed we never knew the extent). I thank you and the many men who fought for our freedom. You are truly my hero even though I know you do no want to be considered that. I am very happy, Bill, that you wrote this memoir for your son. You have made quite a journey and should be proud. I am extremely proud to have been a person who knew you, now especially that I know you even better. You hid it so well. I'm sure that your experiences have helped other vets deal with the horrors of war and I applaud your life. It's amazing that some must go though hell to become whole again. Congratulations!
