Buried (Twisted Cedar Mysteries, #1) by C. J. Carmichael

Buried (book 1, Twisted Cedars Mysteries Trilogy)

In the coastal town of Twisted Cedars, Oregon an ugly secret from the past has been festering for over thirty years when five librarians were targeted by a serial killer. Now an anonymous emailer wants true crime writer Dougal Lachlan to tell the story. To uncover the truth Dougal enlists the help of local Twisted Cedar librarian Charlotte Hammond.

Since the disappearance of her older sister, Daisy, eight years ago, Charlotte has led a quiet, sheltered life. But as Dougal’s investigation proceeds she realizes there is no safe zone. Not even in libraries. And especially not in Twisted Cedars.

Twisted Cedar Mysteries (a three book trilogy):

Book 1: Buried

Book 2: Forgotten

Book 3: Exposed

"CJ Carmichael is a seasoned author... and this shows in A Buried Tale. She has written a fluid, easy to fall into mystery and I'm really hoping there will be more books in this series. The first installment in the Twisted Cedar Mysteries was a great read and I can't wait for more.“ - Cozy Reader

"One of my favorite elements of Carmichael’s books is her gripping portrayal of family dynamics.” Kathy Altman, USA Today

It was a decent mystery until it didn't have an ending. You have to buy the 2nd one. The 3rd one has the ending. I skipped the 2nd one - went staight to the 3rd one. I hate books that require you to buy more to find out what happened.

The story and plot were good until the end then it left you hanging so that you would have to buy the next book I'm not buying it I don't like when they do that

Had to buy 2 and 3. That does make me kinda crabby.

Good up until the last few pages and it ended with no resolution or true ending. It was like the author got tired and just quit. Would not recommend as there was no answer to the mystery.

First read of this author i ran across while browsing free books. Interesting charactures and steady build of the story with just enough happening in each chapter so that i didnt want to stop reading. Been a long time since ive stayed up till 3am reading and finished a book in three days. And wow ..... what a great ending! Looking forward to starting the second book.

I finished the whole series, (3 books in the series), and each had me wanting more to the story. Enjoy the "Twisted cedar" stories so much... so many twists and turns that leave you wondering. B

Wonderful mystery and non-graphic love stories. Not really a cliffhanger, you'll definitely want to read the next in the series. Loved it and highly recommend. CB

Only 230isj pgs. Was a little slow at times, but had some nice twists. If u like small town murder mysteries u will enjoy. The tale doesn't completely end, but she does wrap everything up. Overall a 3.5

Does the author ever think that some of us can not afford to pay five dollars a book for the next two books. I know they need to make money but they could give us a break. Believe it or not people would pay $9.99 for a boxed set of all three books rather than five dollars a book for two books. They are not being coerced into buying the final ending. We like to make our own choices.

I am so excited to have found this author! This book engages you from page one to the last page. I finished it at 2:30 this morning and immediately downloaded the second book in this series. The second book flowed right from the first, no 20 pages bringing you up to speed, just brief mentions from book one. I love that. Highly recommend.

A 200 page free book and 1st in series of a true murder mystery writer that receives an e-mail and his sister's wedding invitation that leads him back to his Oregon hometown and all the old issues he has not faced. The clues pile up in one mystery and present another...... Angst, romance, drama, and deceit.

Story line keeps you turning pages.

The story is good and keeps your interest. Skipped a lot...due to repeating the same information that we already know. Other than that I enjoyed it and will get the next two books.

I like this so much I read it in one day couldn't out it down. I'm going to send it to my daughter's profile on her nook so she can read it next. Off to start book 2.
