This is a different take on the vampire werewolf story. The storyline is sharp and refreshing and there is intrigue as well as suspense and we musn't forget the heat between Jarroth and Sara. This book does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared to read Burning Rogue. I was given an ARC copy of this book but this is a true and honest review
Sara has been alone for thirteen years, drowning in her nightmares of the evil that killed her beloved parents and her best friend Jarroth. One night in a bar this familiar stranger just stares at her as she is once again trying to drown her demons, he simply stares and drinks his drink then he just walks past her, but the pull between the two was palpable and so intense. Unbeknownst to Sara that stranger is her childhood friend who is also a rogue alpha wolf and this time he will not let her go. Sara must learn to live in a world of shapeshifters, vampires and the like and the evil from long ago that killed almost that she loved has returned. This is an excellent read, but it has a surprise and a cliffhanger. We have to wait for the next one, cry a tear. Grab your copy and enjoy, I did! This is a cliffhanger. However, the story is good. It has mystery, violence, romance and will grab your attention. Sara and Jarroth could use more chemistry but their encounters are descriptively steamy. I couldn’t empathize with Sara though - I find her character helpless yet she kept saying she can take care of herself. The end of Part 1 has a good twist. It shows some promising conflict. Hopefully, the author will make Sara more useful in defending herself. [I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
