What truly makes this a 5 star for me was the narration! When having more than one narrator this is how it should be done. I have not read this book but I can tell you now it would not be the same, there is no way the book could be better than the audio. This started out as a good story but when the dual narration kicks in with each doing their own genre I was wowed away. When the story starts out it is a little confusing you know what is happening and it is bad but you do not know the why of it until much later. It is an audio you won’t be able to put down giving you a very high entertainment that will leave you holding your breath. This starts off with a house burning, a women escaping and on the run it takes you through her paces as she runs from town to town until she stops and the story really takes off. Mav is something else from the start you just have to step back and so wooooooooo chill man. He has his own story to tell as he lives a battle of his past let made him what he is today. One women tore his world apart another comes into it, she won’t get the chance to do what was done before her. Can one woman give him back his life and hope of a future or will she tear him down? Ember is way too innocent to be on the run trusting when she should not. Running out of money and her ex hot on her trail she has few options. One cop and one stranger change her life with no turning back she has made her choices for good, bad or even death they have been made. One man she is scared to death of she left behind another steps before her way to handsome for his own good but lord he is even scarier than the one she left behind or is he? Mav and Ember are very strong characters neither taking much off the other. She needs to stay he wants her gone who will win in this tug of war? Mav comes across as a total jerk where Ember is sweet. They are very much attracted to each other but neither wants the other to know. This was a wonderful MC story that has a touch of everything in it. You have danger, over the top sex, homeless people, and a crazy nut case ex, just everything that makes this an outstanding story. Honey Scarlett, Leeroy Will narration was out of this world each hitting tones right on the money. You know just who is talking and what they are feeling. For me they made this audio what it is any other narrators would just not do it justice. Honey takes on the life of all the female roles with Lerroy taking on the male. Their many different voices were outstanding never leaving you guessing who was talking and just how they felt. There are no background noises or any places where the volume are higher or lower or tones off. They give you a listen you won’t be able to put down. If they took a break you cannot tell it is just one smooth listen that hooks you from start to finish. I found things to do so I wouldn’t have to turn it off. They made you feel the emotions at times you even wanted to cry and lord did they make you laugh. Just outstanding narration at the finest. I can’t wait to listen to more from this duo. The author gives a well put together story which is long. With most all story the filler is just too much. Here the author fills it will many different issues and plots as she twist and turn her way through giving you a wonderful listen with lots of danger. There are stories inside of stories with many wonderful characters I can’t wait to read more about. The ending is wow as danger comes to their door.

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars! “Without permission, he’s seared himself onto my heart. Lit a fire so deep inside me, I don’t know if it’ll ever burn out. And I know no matter where I from here, every moment we have shared will stay with me.” Burning Ember is a fantastic start to the Harbingers of Chaos series. As a fan of the biker genre, I am always on the look for a book that is going to knock my socks off. That book that’s going to have great romance, sexual chemistry, action and grittyness….this book was just what I was looking for. Burning Ember follows the story of Ember and Maverick. When we first meet up with Ember, she is on the run from the man who supposedly loves her. This man has taken everything away from her; her family, her love, her freedom. She swore when she escaped him, that she would never let a man treat her that way again. The last thing she ever expected was to be taken in by an MC Club. But, living in the MC world is anything but sunshine and roses. She’s going to have to fight to earn her place; show that she belongs. Only Maverick doesn’t plan on making things easy for. See, Ember reminds Maverick of someone. This someone ruined and destroyed Maverick once and he vowed to never let it happen again. Ember thought escaping her past would be her biggest challenge. However, proving Maverick wrong will be her hardest challenge yet. Burning Ember pulled me into the story almost immediately. It was gritty and consuming. I was captivated by the life that Ember had to live and what she had to endure. Ember is tough. She’s a fighter. She tries to make the best out of every situation that she’s put in. I’m going to be totally honest with you, I didn’t love Maverick in the beginning. He was such a jerk. Definitely the anti-hero type. I couldn’t stand the way that he treated Ember or women in general. But, as time went on, I began to understand his struggles and why he was the way that he is. I’m not in any way defending his actions, but I at least understand him. What I did love was the way he went about redeeming himself. Once he opened his eyes and saw Ember for who she was and that she wasn’t like his past, it was a life altering thing for Maverick. He had to work hard, earn Ember’s trust and really prove to Ember that there was more to him; that he wasn’t the guy she first met. The chemistry! Wow! The chemistry between Maverick and Ember was scorching. It was a love/hate thing at first. But with time, their connection and chemistry grew into something that wouldn’t be denied. You find that the two of them really aren’t so different at all and if they can just give in and trust one another, they could be on the path to something really amazing. Ember and Maverick’s road to HEA isn’t an easy one, but anything worth having, is worth the fight and journey that it takes to get there. Burning Ember is a fantastic start to this series. It was well written and told from dual points of view. It was very easy to get lost in the world that Darby Briar created. I was hooked from the very first page. This story was filled with angst, romance, action, and lots of good sexy times. This book does have it’s fair share of dark, gritty and intense moments, with a few good twists thrown in along the way. Burning Ember is my first book by Darby Briar and all I can say is that I am impressed. She has made a fan out of me and I can not wait to see where she will take us next! *I was provided an ARC copy of this book via, Love Between

4.5 star The story has laughs, secrets, betrayal, suspense, pain, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. This is Ember (pumpkin or doll) and Maverick (Luce)’s story. Ember has just escaped a living nightmare only to run into another. Maverick was screwed over by someone with the same color hair as Ember and voices long and loud that she is going to do the same thing to the club. After agreeing she can stay as she is a gift for another member he finds little things to do to her and have done so she will leave on her own. But what if she’s not like the woman who betrayed him. After a misunderstanding causes him to almost take her out he realizes that he never gave her a chance. Once he takes the time to get to know her he realizes he wants her for himself. Will she want him? Will he be able to understand about her past? What happens when she gets hurt and runs? Will he be able to get her back? If he does will she ever want him again? I loved these characters and also the side characters. You get a feel for a bunch of the characters some you will like and others not so much. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.
