Kudos and more kudos to Neil Peart for putting together this glowing tribute to Buddy Rich, using alumni of Buddy's band and the original arrangements. The presence of Peart and other Rock drummers hopefully will draw listeners of Rock to hear a music they may never have known existed, and open them up to the realization that big band jazz can also RULE. My biggest recommendation to those who hear and like this album is: After you've listened to the versions of songs on this album with the various drummers, check out the version of each of the same songs done by the Rich band with Buddy himself on drums. You'll find that few if any of the drummers on this tribute album remotely compare with the master himself (as good as they are). While the band does a good job on each number, there is a missing element: Buddy rich on the drums. Hear how each of those same songs literally COMES ALIVE with Buddy on the drums instead of the drummer on the tribute version!
