This book is a testament to the strength and healing a family can gain from keeping a child's memory alive. It speaks to the all encompassing love and loss a family suffers when a child passes away.
—Maria Bracamonte (MSW, Pediatric Oncology Social Worker, UCSF Children's Hospital)
Butterflies From Heaven spoke to my heart. I wish I had this book to help my daughter understand the death of her twin brother eight years ago.

A Conversation with Jennifer Minnite, Author of Butterflies From Heaven
Interview by Donna Sozio
Why did you write Butterflies From Heaven?
After my baby's death, I found a lot of clinical information, but nothing comforted my heart. I wrote Butterflies from Heaven to help children and families begin to heal their hearts after an unexpected death in the family.
You have received a lot of praise for your book being very gentle and loving. Why do you think that is?
Every year, more than 12,500 families suffer the devastating loss of a young child in America alone. It's a heartbreaking statistic. I wanted to focus on healing the heart and coming together as a family. I think that is why Butterflies from Heaven has been so well received. Sometimes it takes someone who went through it herself to understand what begins to heal the heart.
What advice do you have for parents who have suffered the loss of a child?
No one is ready for this news. The baby that you had hopes and dreams for that was supposed to be a part of your family has died. There was nothing you could do or could have done to change this. My heart and support are with you. This is a journey you will never forget and one you didn't ever plan on taking. But you are here. And one day, I promise, you will find peace. You will survive. My wish for you is to know that it is possible to heal your heart.
