C791 (Cyborgs: More Than Machines, #1) by Eve Langlais

Machines aren’t supposed to feel, but this cyborg can’t help falling in love.

Assigned as a specimen collector for a captured cyborg, Chloe is intrigued by the machine disguised as a man. Kidnapped during his daring escape, he shows her that despite the chip in his brain, his humanity is not completely lost.

Formerly known as unit X109GI, Joe is on a quest to discover his origin. While he doesn’t find the answers he’s looking for, he does discover that affection and lust aren’t just for humans. But when it comes to a battle between logic and love, which side will the cybernetic organism—once a man—choose?

Evaluating his feelings will have to wait though because the military isn’t done with Joe. But their threats against him pale in comparison before the shocking discovery of project C791, the revelation of which stuns the rebel cyborgs—and ignites a fury for vengeance.

The Cyborgs: More Than Machines books can be read as stand alone stories, however, for total reader enjoyment it is recommended you read them in order.

Well done story with some funny dialogue and lots of steamy scenes. The first of a new series- I can't wait to read the next one. It reminded me a little of the Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner- but I actually enjoyed it more than the 1st story of that series. I hope the next one is about Solus!

Captured cyborg X109GI is held under more than just lock and key in an underground military facility, Chloe has heard all the news and rumors of the cyborg revolt and their exploits to kill and pillage all over space - as hired technician to collect samples from the cyborg she can't but help feel in danger despite all the security details. But meeting the cyborg isn't as terrifying as she thought more exciting, with his taunting and innuendo, and as the meetings increase she begins to feel more at ease with the killing machine. Joe escapes the facility, but there is a snag in the plan, he's bringing the curvy technician with him. He can't help but starting to feel for her - and feelings aren't for cyborgs, unsure how to proceed he sets to seduce her and make sure she's happy in his bedroom, because he has no plans to let her go. Eve Langlais writes funny, sexy, thoroughly entertaining novels that you get addicted to! Her science fiction romances are masterful uses of fantasy, odd habits, awkwardness, wit and sexy as hell love scenes! And oh how C971 was all this! C791 was full of surprises, hot cyborgs and emotional rollacoasters! I loved the plot from the cyborgs becoming conscious and revolting to getting their freedom to Chloe attracting Joe's attention and his heart - this book had a delicious science fiction shell with a yummy hot romance middle - I could eat this book up! I loved the superiority of the cyborgs and I loved how Chloe kept knocking the boys of their logical high horses with emotional responses that left them befuddled. I really enjoyed when Joe decided in his head that he'd order Chloe to stop crying in the future because it made him uneasy. Loved it! And I loved how logical the guys were, but still couldn't stop feeling, no matter how hard they tried. Big bad hunky guys getting baffled by a small female, delish! Another aspect I loved was the military and their corrupt wicked personnel, they were easy to hate and it was a pleasure to see them hacked down like hay by the cyborgs for all the trouble, death and sorrow they had caused. Yes, I was very much rooting for the once men, now machines! I can't say much more than, you have to read this book, if you love romance and science fiction, these two are married so well in this book with witty fun lines and superbly hot love scenes!

Best twist ever. Great cyborgs. Liked that we saw Joe struggle with his human side. But wow the twist. Can't wait for next one.

I was one of those nerds that always thought Data from Star Trek was cute - I loved his struggle with emotions vs. logic, and Eve Langlais's cyborg series seems to hit that science fiction bug inside me just right.  That, combined with her snarky humor and amazing characters made this one close to a home run.  X109GI, Joe (hahaha...I just got that), is one of the first cyborgs to break free of his programming and rebel against the humans that controlled him.  He and his brothers are on a mission to find out more about how they are created and if they can create more like them.  Joe's struggle with the emotions and thoughts that he encounters along this journey are great.  His internal debates about what is logical and what isn't were well thought out. On the other hand, I wish I could have seen more about Chloe earlier on.  I can't say too much about her here because there's a really big secret involving her.  Where Joe was very dynamic - especially considering he's part machine - Chloe didn't strike me as a very great character until almost the very end.  Other than being cute, I didn't quite see what Joe saw in her at first. C791 was an amazing start to the series, and laid the groundwork for a lot more action and sexiness to come.  The world is very well written - especially for a novella where there isn't always a lot of time to develop the surroundings.  My inner sci-fi geek is feeling quite well treated after this one.

~FREEDOM~ Every being has the right to be free...that was all Joe wanted for his brethren of Cyborgs. Freedom he has achieved but falling for a human wasn't in his plans. This short read was well worth it and I'm a new fan for the Cyborgs.  If you have a long flight or a day at the beach this book is definitely something that will make your day even brighter. I'm hooked and plan to read them all. Thank you Eve.

C791 by Eve Langlais First in the cyborg series. A bit more serious than current books. Very sexy. Emotionally satisfying. Looking forward to reading more of this series. Humans, turned into cyborgs, and used as military slaves, become aware of themselves as individuals. They revolt against the military's intent to kill them all. Thus begins the war between humans and cyborgs. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but will say, the twist and results were perfectly done. Exactly how I wanted that General's demise.

122 pages. I think this story had a good concept and surprise elements but I didn't like the development. I didn't find any humor in the book. More than half the book is just sex scenes. Usually sex scenes further characters intimacy but the "hero" is continously states he likes the heroine just for sex. There is some relationship building but not enough for me. I thought it was like a bad "B" sci-fi movie.

First time I read it I archived it and mived on. Decided to reread it toeither delete it or buy the next one. Now I see why I kept it and am buying #2. Very emotional, which is odd with cyborgs. Great sex too.

I am not a big fan of reading sci-fi, I love to watch the movies, but not read the books. With that being said, this was a really good book! I enjoyed the idea of a cyborg becoming aware and trying to find himself and find love. Chloe is a good character, flawed, but beautiful. I like that she is not perfect, makes everyone feel like even less than perfect people can find love. The rest of the cyborgs that you meet are intriguing as well. I stayed up late reading this and then binged the rest the next day. HA HA. I can not wait for the rest of them to find love!

Wildly imaginative & intensely hot. Langlais easily and seamlessly combines science fiction with an erotic relationship full of chemistry to create a one of a kind whole that will keep you hooked. The suspense throughout underlined everything that happened while the twists and turns in the plot kept me on my toes. Langlais delves into the concept of cyborgs well, allowing readers to discover what is expected and what is possible. I loved how we not only find out where they came from and how they came about, but also how they differ from one another. The many personalities that we encounter really brought the concept of cyborg to life for me. I appreciated the different writing style for Joe’s POV. It made me feel as if I were experiencing his thought patterns, and how they differ slightly from a human’s. Joe’s ‘heart problems’ had me in stitches. Seeing a cyborg rediscover his human emotions was a novelty. Langlais develops Joe’s confusion over it in such a manner that it was easy to understand. Chloe’s strength and fragility vie with one another to create a character that I found myself rooting for. Will you be able to put this one down and walk away? Not very likely. Be prepared for one sleepless night.
