Could the aftermath of a storm push a person to murder? It’s springtime in Hillside, Texas, which means tornado season. A tornado rips through town, damaging property here and there. Fortunately, the damage is repairable, and only one person is found dead—Verna Dixon, an elderly widow who lived on the edge of town. At first, everyone assumes that Verna was killed by flying debris from the tornado (she was found outside, halfway between her house and her chicken coop) as she was trying to bring her chickens inside. But Detective Ryan Shepherd realizes there’s more to this death than meets the eye when he discovers that Verna was not killed by a flying piece of wood, as was originally suspected. Why would anyone want to kill Verna? That’s the question bothering Ryan and Heather. There’s no apparent motive, and no one knows seems to know where to begin looking for suspects. Did Verna know something about someone she was trying to decide whether or not to reveal? What could Verna have known?

Join Heather, Ryan, and all the regulars of Hillside, Texas, as they try to figure out who killed Verna and why. The answer may surprise you! Review: The characters are well developed and well rounded. I am really enjoying reading about Heather and Ryan and the beginnings of their relationship. It is always helpful to have a backstory for the characters and I am getting that by reading the books from the beginning of the series. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The descriptive writing of the author pulls the reader into the story and takes the reader for a great ride. The mystery is well paced and keeps you reading to find out who dunnit. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted culinary cozy.

Verna Dixon, an elderly widow lives alone on the outskirts of Hillside. She hears the wind pick up and then a noise. Tornado!! She calmly goes into her basement and stays there until the storm is over. Then goes outside to check for damage. A figure approachs pointing a gun at her and shoots. When she is found there is a piece of wood in her chest. She was a friend of Eva's and Eva asks Heather to look into it. Eva has an uneasy feeling and doesn't believe Verna was killed by the tornado. Heather finds out Verna had been shot. Who would want to shoot Verna? And why? She was kind to everyone and volunteered at the hospital and hospice. Heather also has another worry. Ryan had been acting strange and now doesn't call or text or come to see Heather. What has happened there? Come along with Heather and find out why Verna was killed and who is guilty of murder. Will you figure it out before Heather does? And find out what is going on with Heather and Ryan. You will love the twist at the endI Love having a prologue and epilogue. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is enterily my own.

Susan Gillard’s Cadbury Creme Murder Heather Jenke is the owner of Donut Delights in Hillside, Texas. Her new donut is the Cadbury Creme donut. A tornado hits Hillside. Luckily Heather escapes any major damage. The death during the storm was Verna Dixon who was an elderly widow and a volunteer in the Hospital ICU and hospice. Verna was involved on many committees and community groups. Detective Ryan Shepherd finds a bullet hole in the center of her chest with a piece of wood stuck in the hole. What is going on here?? Who would want to murder such a sweet caring woman?? Heather delves into the woman’s life. The characters are well defined, realistic and interesting. It is a well plotted, easy to read and a book to enjoy. This second edition of book # 3 has an added Prologue, Epilogue and donut recipes.

Verna Dixon was prepared for almost anything so when the tornado hit Hillside, Texas she calmly went into her basement to wait until it was over. Okay, maybe she was a little afraid being of a certain age and living alone. Who wouldn’t be in this circumstance? She heard the wind blowing hoping that her house wouldn’t be too damaged. When things finally quieted down she crept upstairs to see how bad things were. To her joy she saw that her house more or less got through the bad weather without too many problems. But little did Verna know that within a few short minutes she wouldn’t be as lucky. Verna heard some noise in her yard and saw someone standing there. Verna recognized the person and wondered why she had this unwanted guest. The person was there to murder her! Police Detective Ryan Shepherd is investigating the case and at first isn’t sure if Verna was murdered. Most people thought she was killed by something hitting her during the tornado but Ryan soon discovers that the widow’s life was ended by human hands. Now all he has to do is figure out who and with the help of donut baker, Heather Janke and her best friend, Amy Givens to help investigate the killer will come to justice soon.  “Cadbury Cream Murder” is the second edition to author Susan Gillard’s third book in her donut hole cozy mystery series. This new edition is a great way of going back and remembering how Ryan and Heather met and how Heather and Amy teamed up as P.I.’s. There’s also some new things in the book that fans did not see in the first edition. This series is fun to read, easy to get through, and good for all ages. It’s a good way to reacquaint yourself with Heather and the gang or meet them for the first time. Lots of donut talk too.

Review of: Cadbury Creme Murder I thoroughly enjoyed this third book in the Doughnut Hole Cozy Mystery series. It's fun to start a new series from the beginning and get to know all the characters. I've been reading this series since the first book. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed it. I was not bored at all & the book kept my interest throughout! I like the writing style. It engages me easily. I also like all the characters. The plot was a good mystery that satisfies with a little "twisty surprise" which makes a cozy mystery book enjoyable for me. This book does not disappoint. There was some interesting tension between the main character and her love interest which kept me guessing. I feel the characters are realistic and believable. I also love the descriptions of the gourmet donuts & the new creations in this book! They sound very creative & yummy! Who doesn't like a mystery book that has a pet? Dave the dog adds an element of warmth. This cozy mystery has all the ingredients I look for in a cozy mystery.

Another winner. Cadbury Creme Murder is the third novella book in the series and I still love it! Love the story line and characters. Quick read and fun. Great for day when you are without power. Heather is the owner of Donut Delights. After a body is found in the aftermath of a tornado her friend Eva asks her to find the killer. Heather gets in a bit of trouble but comes out on top with some help from an unlikely person. Can't wait for the next one.

In this one Heather and Amy team up with Ryan to solve what is looking like an accidental death. As they dig in they find that it was indeed murder and then have to figure out who the killer is. This one is a bit special to Heather. Her favorite customer, Eva, is a good friend of the victim. I love these books cuz they are good, they keep you interested and they are a quick read.
