Overview

Cadence Walker David is a hard-driving man who hails from a severely dysfunctional family in Detroit.

He finds himself in need of bail money when his brother gets into trouble and they both end up in jail. He heard a familiar voice from the past and meets up with an old street buddy - turned preacher. Frank Kincaid extracts a promise from him to play his guitar for a couple of church services in exchange for bail money.

Cade agrees. How hard could it be to play his beloved guitar for a bunch of church people?

He soon finds out when the preacher's daughter, a slender blue-eyed blonde, is the music leader. He dubs her Babyface the first day. She has no idea about the real world.

Cade knows nothing about this God she talks about. And if he is anything like his father Cade has no use for a God who can't even take care of his people on earth.

They are two people from two totally different worlds and Cade intends on keeping it that way - until he learns that Babyface has a past of her own.

This is one of the best christian romance books that I've read! The author rushed the ending a bit but none the less, a great book.

Cade and Kyle's story is sweet and clean. While it takes you on an emotional journey that contains a lot of characters that have had a rough life but have been saved when they accept Jesus in their lives, I felt the author rushed the ending. This is a 916 page story that is based on the slow build of Cade and Kyle's relationship. But, for some reason, the author ends it just when Cade finally openly admits his feelings to Kyle. After that breakthrough, you would think there would be some chapters of them together as a couple but, instead we get an epilogue of a couple pages that just tells you how many kids they end up having...blah, blah, blah. After 900 pages of build up, I feel ripped off. :P

I made some friends.
Three friends.
Ethan and Alyssa seem nice. But, I can tell Jason is truely my friend.
I love Jason, as a friend of course. I found out Madi (Jason's gf) was lying to him. I can't belive she would do such a thing, to a sweet, kind, man, such as Jason. She said she did'nt want to hurt his feelings, but, he will be more hurt when he comes and sees she lied to him! I wanted to punch Madi, but, I knew that would only make matters worse. So I did'nt punch her.
I wish me and Jason could be together. But, I don't think he like likes me. We are just friends, nothing more. I wish there was some way I could tell him how I feel about him. But, I am slightly afraid of doing so. I am going to say quiet, and keep my feelings to myself.

I really enjoyed this 900-plus-page book! Most of the characters had a rough life and are saved through Jesus. It has a lot of twists that I did not expect and I felt that I could relate to the characters. I have read other books by this author and love her writing, however, I HATE that in every book it ends right when the two characters get together. Then the epiloge is always about how many children they had together. This one was no different. Nothing about Cade and Kyle's relationship once they do get together. And nothing about what Cade went through once he finally did accept Christ into his life.

This book was a pretty good read. I loved the story and in a lot of ways it was very realistic but you didn't really see the development of the relationship between cadence and kyle develop. There were several twists that I didn't expect which was great! Some sentences made no sense though. 900 pages long which is great for a free book. It could have easily been made into 2 or 3 books but it didn't drag on. Everything happened really quickly which I liked but sometimes I wish i knew how certain things played out. Clean christian book although it does discuss some rough topics so I would give this a pg13 rating. Ending was sort of abrupt though. I would have liked to see it play out a bit more although the prologue ends the story off nicely. It doesn't leave you with lots of questions which is nice. Overall pretty good book!
