4.5 stars I have never read a Nicole Reed book *ducks for cover*. Yes, yes I know now that I’ve obviously been missing out, because I enjoyed “Cake” immensely. I’m a convert, people! This is the story of Kylie. She has loved Trent since she first met him, but to him Kylie has only ever been a sister. He’s a humanitarian and kind and giving and has been off saving the world. Kylie is still convinced she can get him to notice her as more than a friend, so when he calls and asks a favor, she can’t say no. However, the favor happens to be nursing back to health her nemesis, Dray. Dray is Trent’s best friend, and someone Kylie has merely tolerated for years. He’s a professional football player who is a total player. He’s never had a family, so when he gets a concussion Kylie is his only option until Trent can get back in the country. But unexpected things happen when these two are thrust together. Once they let their walls down, everything they’ve thought up until this point about each other starts to crumble too. What will rise out of that? Can Kylie let go of the fantasy of Trent’s perfection? This was, quite simply, a great book. Kylie is a great character, and she’s very easy to feel connected to and care about. She’s not perfect, but she’s a good person with a big heart. It was very easy to love her and hoped that she got her head out of her butt and saw what was right in front of her. As for Dray, at first I disliked him nearly as much as Kylie! He’s a douchenozzle for sure. The thing is that it’s all a front so he doesn’t have to show how he really feels about anything. And while Kylie was convinced that Trent was perfect, he never really won me over. I thought that he knew how Kylie always felt about him and in some ways, he used her. Nothing noble about that. It’s like he knew he didn’t want her, but he didn’t want anyone else to have her either, and that is simply uncool. You just don’t play with people like that. This is really just a book about finding where you belong in life. It is written beautifully and I had a hard time putting it down. It didn’t go completely the way I expected it to either, which is a plus. I like to be surprised by a book, as I so rarely am. But what happened was true to the characters, and I loved that. It was honest. I would have liked a bit more about the back stories of the characters, but the sex was off-the-charts hot which I think more than makes up for that! 4.5 stars. What a fun, steamy, drag your emotions through a wringer kind of book this was! Going in, I knew to expect a love triangle, but this triangle was different than one I expected. Kylie crushed on Trent for years, never to have her feelings returned except in the form of friendship. Then there’s Dray. Holy hottie on a stick! Kylie’s treated him like a brother and he’s been a total jerk to her most of that time. Then things change. And boy do they ever! What Kylie thought she knew about the men in her life is brought into question. There’s so much to consider and this is a heartfelt look at the turmoil that Kylie faces as what she thought she believed and felt turns on its head. My heart beat fast, I laughed, cried, and steamed up the place with the hotness factor. I truly appreciate that Nicole Reed pulled me through all of those emotions. Another factor that made this a win for me is Nicole Reed’s inclusion and treatment of Kylie’s relationships outside of Dray and Trent. Her best friend, Madison, her employees, and her mom and aunt. The depth of relationships, particularly with Madison and her aunt, Leigh, and the way Nicole adds humor and love and pain left me feeling as though I were also a part of their relationships. Overall, Nicole Reed delivered a don’t want to put it down read. There are a few twists that I didn’t expect and in the end, I felt it ended in the best way possible. I will definitely be reading other books by Nicole Reed as her dialogue, pacing, and story line captured me from the beginning and had me trying to find ways to read non-stop.

Wonderfully written book the author makes you laugh so hard one minute then feel pain and hurt in the next instant. I'm sure anyone who has lived life has felt every emotion that is brought forth in this book. Can't wait to read more!!

I chose this book, because I love Reed's Ruining Series. Plus, the cover and synopsis are pretty great. Here's the thing, I'm not even sure what to say in a review about the book. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. So, I think I'll just give a basic rundown, ending on a positive note.  What didn't like: -I felt like there were inconsistencies throughout the book. It was distracting.  -I wanted to know more about their pasts.  -I didn't love Kylie.  -Based on the synopsis, I thought this was going to be a threesome type of situation, so I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't.  What I did like: -I loved Dray. -I liked Dray and Kylie as a couple.  -I loved Kylie's BFF, Madison.  Would love to see her in her own book! -There were some pretty great lines.  -The SEX. It was hot and honestly takes credit for most of my rating. Overall, it was ok. I did read it in one sitting, but I won't lie, I was into the sex. I think I just went in expecting something else, so I ended up a bit let down.  Quotes: -"You make it sound so easy to get what I always wanted." "What?" I ask, releasing the breath I've been holding.  "You. You bring me to my knees. Your smile, the insecure one you only give to me. The way you smell at the base of your neck that is purely your scent. Your taste, knowing I'll be the last man to ever know how sweet you truly are."-Loc 3087

Not bad but definately not great either. Heroine waiting for 7 years for the man she loves. Then sleeps with best friend instead. Too much drama for me. Made for college age.

Another Wonderful book by Miss Nicole Reed...different from the Ruining....Series, but I loved the book, Kylie, Madison, Dray & Trent. I laughed a lot & cried...230 pages. Only thing I would improve is the ending, it was kind of rushed!

“Cake” was absolutely amazing. Author Nicole Reed has completely blown me away with this book. I absolutely loved both “Ruining Me” and “Ruining You” and this book does not disappoint. I loved it! Kylie has been in love with Trent since she laid eyes on him in college. The only problem is that he has always looked at her as a friend and his foster brother Dray is there to torture her along the way. Madison is Kylie’s best friend who has witnessed all of what she feels is Kylie’s obsession with Trent. While Trent is off saving the world Dray is hurt and with no one to care for him it’s up to Kylie to support the brother of the man she loves. Let’s just say things become complicated in the best way possible. You will fall in love with all of the characters in the book especially Madison, Dray and even Aunt Leigh. They will definitely make you laugh! I laughed, cried and there even was a gasp. I highly recommend this book to anyone 18 and over looking for a funny, romantic read that capture your heart and touch your soul. There is no cliff hanger so you will be completely satisfied. I will definitely be reading “Cake” over and over.
