Pregnant and alone, Sarah Ladina wants to regain her independence and do what’s best for her soon-to-be-born baby, but buying a run-down Victorian for an inn wasn’t her brightest idea. An inability to cook or fix a leaky faucet will make the job even harder. When a friendly golden retriever, disabled vet, and potential cook show up on the first day, she knows her life is going to get a lot more complicated. When her ex tries to get back into her life and her doctor orders modified bed rest, Sarah wonders if she’ll ever be able to stand on her own.

After returning from duty in the Middle East wounded in both body and spirit, Hunter Evans is in search of employment and a home. Finding a job has been tough and housing doesn’t come cheap in Costanoa, the town that he loves most on the California coast. His prosthetic leg allows him to run, but keeps him from his childhood passion, surfing. With a low-level job and a transient motel for a home, Hunter isn’t sure life is worth living.

But spring is coming in Costanoa and love is in the air. With the help of good friends, Sarah and Hunter may be able to get beyond the painful past and complicated present to find the love and respect they want and deserve.

A delightful story about Sarah's struggles to do what is best for her and her unborn child. There are emotional highs and lows, good friends, a pesky mother, an ex-boyfriend and a wounded vet. The story is well written with a detailed storyline and enticing characters. The author has done a wonderful jog of bringing to light the difficulties and struggles that can arise for each, a single mother and a returning vet. Enjoyed sarah and Hunter's journey to finding themselves and each other. Received copy for review.

In California Homecoming by Casey Dawes, Sarah Ladina is in search of her independence, which she especially needs now since she is pregnant. So she has decided to buy the run-down Victorian house and turn into an inn, even if it has not been her best idea yet. She doesn’t know how to cook and she is no handywoman. Lucky for her Mandy shows up, She is no handyman either, but she does want to become a chef so much that she is willing to help Sarah with the inn for free. Unfortunately, a man named Hunter keeps showing up wanting to buy the house from her. He showed up the very first day and he keeps insisting regardless of her declining his offers. But Sarah is disillusioned by men and no matter how hot Hunter is she doesn’t want to accept his offer. Hunter is a vet who is working on his disability after loosing his leg to an IED during the war. All he wants now is a place that holds no memories of his parents, he wants the house where he always found comfort and he wants to be a part of it. But now after meeting Sarah, he is not only interested in the house, he is becoming interested in her as well. Sarah and Hunter are two people going through a very difficult time in their lives. For Sarah not only does she have a house to turn into an inn, she also has an ex that won’t go away and spells trouble every time he shows up and a pregnancy that has put her on bed-rest. Hunter will have his work cut out for him, but he will make it worth it. This is a beautiful story that faces two common issues we face these days and the way that they were combined was amazing. It made for a great and interesting read that will keep you wondering what happens next. Don’t miss California Homecoming by Casey Dawes I promise you won’t regret it.
