Helped by a mysterious stranger...
Sometimes, fate takes you by surprise.
Locating a book in the campus library unexpectedly embarks college sophomore, Hannah McCurry, in to a life-altering journey as she stumbles across something she never expected. A secret not only protected from the world at large, but essentially hidden, specifically, from her.
Joining Hannah, with a secret of his own, is the gloriously handsome librarian, Spencer Rush. Meeting him was fate. Trusting him was a choice. But falling for him was beyond her control.
Through her life-changing quest, doubts increase while truths of her past are unveiled. Two seemingly unrelated instruments become the keys to unlocking her future. A book. And a stranger.
Call it FATE. Call it INTENSE. Definitely call it HEAT.

This book is so cute and fun! Rush is DREAMY!! Seriously. I was hooked from the first pages of this book. Elizabeth Wyke has a great imagination and she’s created a world that draws you and makes you believe. She out a fresh, new spin on paranormal romance. Hannah is a great heroine. She is strong, smart, and independent. She is easy to like and is someone I would like to be friends with in real life. That is something I look for in a heroine. Though she is shocked by the realities unfolding before her, she takes it in stride pretty quickly. She puts her trust in Rush (despite his not earning it sometimes, though rarely) and together they discover conspiracies and mysteries that will take you from page to page, guessing what’s next, and often finding that your guess was in another direction all together. Spencer Rush is just delicious. There were a few times I could have smacked him upside the head for his decisions. However, it’s hard to fault him when those choices are made under duress. Rush is drawn to Hannah, but he is going against rules to be with her. He has to protect her from the repercussions of her own choices in searching for answers, but also from the consequences of his need to be with her. There are twists and turns, fun and love, and everything that makes a fantastic read! The ending was surprising, but I hope hope hope there is a sequel. It’s not exactly a cliffhanger but it’s definitely set up for following novel. I look forward to Elizabeth Wyke’s next work!!
Hannah lost her parents when she was 8 due to a car accident. She went into foster care till she found a family that wanted her to stay. She is now in college. She signed up for extra credit in one of her classes and the professors told her to look for a certain book in the library. The one book changes her whole life. She finds the book in the library after a small incident with on the student librarians, named Rush. He tells her she has to take the book because it was recalled by the publisher. Hannah thinks this is weird and follows him. He catches her following her and invites her to coffee saying he took the class last semester and will help her with her paper. She agrees and finds herself attracted to him. Rush cooks her dinner. She manages to get the book back and then heads home. She is conflicted about taking the book because she is sure once Rush realizes is that he will never want to see her again. She has never felt this way about a boy before. Will thumbing through the book she finds a picture of her parents in the book. The caption states that her mom is an alien and her dad is human. She can’t believe it and then there is a business card with the professor’s name and on the back it says we need to talk. Turns out her professors wrote the book. Rush comes back later that night when he realizes she took the book. He asks to speak to her and asks her how much she has had a chance to read. He tells her he will answer any questions she has if she just goes with him back to his apartment. She agrees. While at his apartment to finds out the Rush knew her mother and is an alien as well. Who know one book could change someone’s life? Will Rush be able to help her figure things out? What will happen between Rush and Hannah? I loved this book. It was still a romance but so much more. Rush and Hannah have this instant connection which explained later in the book but is no less wonderful. Hannah knows she should be running when she learns all these things but if she runs and ignores it she will never she Rush again and that alone is enough to make her accept the things he tells her. The aliens in this book and very similar to humans. Hannah and Rush go through so much in this book. He tries to stay away from her but it doesn’t work she tracks him down and demands to know why he wants her to stay away. Once he realizes that they can’t stay away from each other he wants nothing more than to protect her with his life. This was a fantastic book and I hope there will be a follow up book to it. I would love to read more about these characters. Great job Elizabeth. i was given this book in return for an honest review.
