Call to Engage: A Romance Novel by Tawny Weber

The Poseidon team are hard-bodied, fiercely competitive Navy SEALs. But when a sensitive mission goes disastrously wrong, three of the team's finest will have to trust their hearts and instincts to uncover the truth…

Lieutenant Elijah Prescott should be spending his precious leave somewhere with sun, surf and scantily clad women. Instead, he's heading home with two goals in mind. Figure out exactly how his last assignment went to hell and almost killed him—and reconnect with the woman who might offer salvation.

Ava Monroe has streamlined her life, eliminating every source of pain—including a marriage touched by tragedy. One glimpse of her ex and those good intentions turn to bad-girl desires. Her strategy: get over Elijah by getting under him again, sating herself until she can finally let go. But as betrayal within the rank of the SEALs turns deadly, there's no denying that her heart and her life are on the line. Elijah is the only man who can protect both…

The second book in Ms. Weber's Team Poseidon series did not disappoint! This one follows "Rembrandt" (aka Elijah Prescott) as he and the Poseidon team continue to try to find the missing traitor who eluded them in the last book. Elijah's also struggling with his future--is it still in the military? as a part of the Team? or does he have a second chance with his ex, the only woman he ever loved? Does making one of these choices exclude the others? I loved Ava--she truly is a kick butt heroine! Fingers crossed that we'll see more of her and Elijah in the next book (which is Nic's; whose story I do want to hear--but what about Jared and Andi??? You're killing me here, Ms. Weber...and now I want to know more about Ava's BFF Chloe and her story too, darn you) just as we got a bit more Harper and Diego in this one :) Call to Engage would work okay as a standalone if needed--the pertinent details that you need to know from the first book are explained--but everything's going to work better all around if you know the whole story. Plus, it'd be impossible to know just a little about these characters and not want to know all--so you might as well put the whole series on your TBR and save yourself the trouble ;) Rating: 4 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

OMG what a great read. Fans of great stories with great characters and a strong story-line will adore this latest release from author Tawny Weber. CALL TO ENGAGE is the next book in the Team Poseidon series. This series does follow a continuing story ARC along each book, however I feel you can read each book alone. I wouldn't recommend it not only for the story ARC but also because with each book we learn a bit more about the team itself and the team members. So I'd recommend you start with book one, Night Maneuvers, and read them all. CALL TO ENGAGE is a great story, I love the stories that show things go wrong but when love is meant to be it finds a way. This is one of those stories. All fans to reconnecting lost loves will adore this story. Fans of military romance, of course will love these SEALs and the women who steal their hearts. Call to Engage is full of suspense, romance, action, and emotion. This is one of those stories that stays with you after you finish the last page. I'd recommend you start it when you can have a full reading experience and no interruptions, it's so good you'll NOT want to put it down!!! Highly Recommended!!!

I love this story!! The Team Poseidon books are great! This one is a second chance at love and, like all of Tawny's books, brings you into the story and makes you feel the emotions of the characters. This book is also full of action. I couldn't stop reading until I was finished with it. I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!

A great addition to the series! Okay, so I had to pick up and read the first book before diving into this one. I'm glad I did. While you can read this as a stand alone, it wouldn't have had the same effect. This book was just like the first: filled with plenty of action, friendship, laughter, sexiness, and of course, love. I like how Tawny was able to tie it all together and still keep a bit of suspense to the overall plot. Ava was phenomenal. Kick ass. And yet soft at the same time. Her and Elijah's history is a tough one to push past, but Tawny did a great job at taking us along for the ride and getting everyone there within the right frame of mind. The only suggestion I'd make is this...the acronyms...if the next book could spell them out, it'd be great. I served in the military for eight years and there were a few that went over my head. Great read and I highly recommend!

Elijah and Ava should still be together, but they have been divorced for several years. A tragedy that was hard to handle tore them apart. Now that they have seen each other, old memories are bound to surface. Ava finally understands a little of what Elijah does as a SEAL, but will it be enough for her to change her mind about being with him forever? Elijah is ready to leave his team, really it is his family, to be with Ava. Will she ask that of him?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, Call to Honor, and jumped at the chance to read this sequel Both stories are concerned with the men who form the Poseidon team of elite Navy SEALs, their interactions, what happens to them and their search to discover just who is betraying them…… Whilst this story could be read as a standalone, I believe readers will benefit from reading the series in order as Elijah Prescott is one of the team. Life has been traumatic for him in recent years . . . his marriage ended in divorce not long after their baby son unexpectedly died, he’s sustained serious burn injuries whilst in action and the whole team have been betrayed by one of them, something they’re finding hard to accept. Elijah decides to take leave to give himself more time to recover from all that life is throwing at him and returns to stay with his cousin, Mack, who runs a gym. He didn’t anticipate encountering his ex-wife so soon after returning, or to discover how much she’s changed in appearance and attitude as she’s now kick-ass hot – an instructor in the gym in many different aspects. As the two reconnect, their chemistry is still volatile but with the past something they still need to discuss and the mystery of who has betrayed the team, things aren’t going to go smoothly for this couple. This is an action packed story of a strong team of men striving to uncover treason, betrayal and deception whilst protecting those they love. It is fast paced with strong characters, hot action, uncertainty and plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing in anticipation. The leading ladies all have their own strengths and are key to many events – and there’s also a delightful young boy involved, too! Another enjoyable read from this talented author – I can’t wait for the next book in the series to be available Many thanks to the publishers for agreeing to gift me a copy of this book via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion after reading the novel.

'Call To Engage' by Tawny Weber is book Two in the "Team Poseidon". This is the story of Elijah and Ava. I have not yet read the previous book and do feel that I would have enjoyed this more if I had but overall I found this be be a exciting story. This was a second chance at love For Elijah and Ava. Both have changed so much since their marriage where they had to deal with a tragedy that they couldn't get past at the time. But this story tells of their "Second Chance at Love" . "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

An emotional, passionate, and touching romance story with a touch of danger and suspense. This story has a heartfelt, in-depth look at the sacrifices, challenges, and the instability that military families live with on daily basis, how the service to the country affects those serving and to those who are left behind waiting for the homecoming. The nightmares, flashbacks, and losses the service personal faces and come home with were described with raw honesty as well as the terrors that they carry with them rest of their lives. Oh, there was sweet, hot romance and constantly present danger, even one on one action and palpable fear for their lives, but the mental battle of survival and learning to live with the images of the war as a constant companion in your head as you close your eyes, that is what was on my mind as I finished the story. Elijah Prescott and Ava Monroe's love story started years ago. They had faced the difficulties, the challenges, the troubles, the pressure, and expectations from their families. Yet what ultimately drifted them apart was a devasting loss of life. There's no question about if Elijah and Ava love each other, needs each other, desire each other - that is palpable in the air, a tangible force pulling them together. But the growth, the maturing, learning to accept, to be open, to communicate, to make compromises, to dare to take the risk and the leap of love, that is what they have to learn and figure out if it is worth to betting everything on their love. Call to Engage had the elements that I expected with romance and suspense, but it had so much more as well with the mental and emotional concerns of the protagonists, the anguished battles of their minds and hearts. ~ Four Spoons with the teaspoon on the side

A standalone book, yet continues the story of SEAL team Poseidon being under investigation. This book focuses on Elijah and Ava who were once married. In all honesty, I started to read this book already figuring out the storyline and how it would end. WRONG!! There are a couple of unexpected twists and turns that will end up keeping you in edge. Not to mention, there are a number of steamy scenes available for those that are not into the action and intrigue. I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.

4 1/2 STARS! Book two in Tawny Weber's Team Poseidon series is even better than the first as the team digs deep to try to flush out the traitor in their midst! We get to know some of their history better and go on a crash course of his past with Elijah as he works through some issues.  A powerful group of men who know how to show their soft side when dealing with the friendships they hold dear! Lieutenant Elijah Prescott is still trying to pick up the pieces of his sanity after his last mission went haywire. He's heading home on leave to try to figure out what life holds for him now. He's just expecting the relax and regroup, he didn't know he'd be running into his ex-wife and have the past reel him in again! Ava Monroe thought she had moved past their history, but seeing Elijah brings it all screaming to the front again. Their marriage suffered great tragedy and instead of turning towards each other to heal, it split them apart. She turned away from him and found a way to heal herself enough to become a stronger, independent person. The attraction between them rears it's head as soon as they cross each other's paths again, so instead of trying to fight it, she decides to delve right back into it and get it out of their systems so she can go on with her life once he's gone again ... what she doesn't count on, is actually getting neck deep in a mission with him and having to learn how strong her love for him really is!

ARC for honest review with no compensation Call to Engage is the 2nd book in the Poseidon series and what a way to continue, Tawny Weber just continues to write such awesome, suspenseful, intriguing and holy hotness too! ! ! Elijah Prescott has just been released from the hospital after nearly getting blown to bits on a mission that went wrong. He needs to take some time to heal and figure out what went wrong with the mission so he returns home and runs into the only woman who has held his heart all this time even with the heartaches and tragedy they endured but who also happened to be his ex wife, Ava. Ava Monroe has turned her back on love, marriage and family after she suffers a tragic loss but her ex shows up and she begins to realize that maybe not is all lost with him. She and Elijah begin again slowly with their relationship but evil comes a calling and now Ava may be in more danger than ever before..... Can these two find their HEA or will it again have a tragedy to end it????

Elijah/Rembrandt had devoted his life to the Navy and his SEAL team. His marriage had ended when a tragedy put too much pressure on the precarious relationship. A mission gone wrong had left him needing months of recovery. While the team was under suspicion from a rogue team member, Elijah returned home to family, friends, and the one woman who had and still held his heart. This a story filled with a love threatened and rocked by loss, emotions, characters worthy of the feelings they will instill in the reader, and plenty of steam. Along with the aptly named mission, the story of a love both people feel but are fighting will pull you in. The author never disappoints with anything less than a compelling story and this is no exception. I love the team of honorable men and their women. I hate the pain Elijah and Ava go through dealing with the issues between them. I want Ava to admit her problem while understanding why she can't. These are people you will care about, cry with, and cheer them on hoping they will work through the issues that separate them. I can't wait for Nic's story next and to see how the team is doing. This is my honest review of this advance reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Sweetly Sexy, Dangerously Gripping, Emotionally Daring Second Chance Action Romance! Could not put it down once I started and so looking forward to more from this series to come! Lieutenant Elijah Prescott is so strong, daring and wicked smart, he returns home after a failed mission that almost killed him to try and uncover the truth of what went wrong. Ava Monroe is a sexy, sassy and head strong woman that just also happens to be his ex-wife and the one woman he can never forget. Second book in the series and I most defiantly recommend reading the first book Call to Honor to understand the underlying investigation in to the betrayal they are trying to uncover.

I'm loving this Team Poseidon series! Elijah and Ava have a complicated history, but they haven't lost their connection. Ava's new outlook and Elijah's commitment to his SEAL team make it near impossible to turn their second chance into an HEA. Throw in the mess with Operation F* Up, and you've got a sexy, suspenseful romance in the making. I cannot wait for Nic's story!

Elijah Prescott has recovered physically but emotionally not so good. On his next mission he had flashbacks during the mission. He knows he needs time away to get his act together. Heading back home he decides to stay with his cousin Mack to think things through. He never thought to see his ex-wife again and all the feelings brought back to the front. The loss of their child threw Ava into a downward spiral and she feels she now has her lift back on track-but does she??? Seeing Elijah again has brought this all to the front again and forces her to confront her feelings for him. Throw together for a mission was the last thing Ava wanted. Ava came face to face with Elijah and the team and how they work together and their bond towards one another. Poseidon is still hunting the traitor and are closing to finally capturing him which will hopefully clear their name once and for all. Elijah and Ava finally realize they need to finally put the past behind them or work towards a future together. Can’t wait for the next book!!

Elijah Prescott aka Rembrandt has his demons. And the cautious stares of the men he works with everyday are getting to him. How could he not know there was a traitor bunking with him?? Could he be involved?? Never would he betray his family of SEALs. Needing some more time after his recovery from getting blown up, Elijah heads home to his cousins gym. But the surprise that meets him there nearly knocks the breath out of him. Ava, the one woman with the power to destroy him. And his ex-wife. He'd blown it once. Never would he put himself out there again. Ava has been dealt more blows than anyone should have to suffer through. But she has finally found herself. And is at the top of the training game. But when Elijah walks back into her life she must rember she's not the same girl as she was back then. She mustn't lose herself. Bit the attraction and feelings are still there and can't be ignored. As they rediscover one another, Ava and Elijah find more than either bargained for. But are either strong enough, brave enough to take the chance again? And when Elijah's past and most hated enemy comes calling will there be enough to keep her safe and away from the ugliness once again??

Call to Engage, Tawny Weber's new Navy SEAL romance has all the hallmarks of romantic suspense. Second chances, conspiracies, independent women, hot alpha males, and the occasional intruding family member combine to create a gripping story. Ava and Elijah suffered a terrible tragedy that tore their marriage apart. They get the chance to find their way back, with the added complication of a deadly traitor lurking in their lives. Their story is packed with feelings, both good and bad. Weber inserts updates on previous couples and drops hints about future couples to keep us interested in the world of Poseidon. Don't let the slow start stop you. Ava and Elijah don't interact until the last page of chapter 4, but the chemistry when they do is worth it. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was an action packed book that I really enjoyed. The story line is full of suspense, regret, betrayal, self-doubt and second chances. The characters are strong and intense with remarkable connections and great determination. I found this to be such an interest read! I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.

This story is the second one in Ms Weber’s series titled Team Poseidon. I did not get to read book one, so there was a moment or two in which I felt I would have benefited of having read the first book in the series. That said, Ms Weber once again gives us a story that is full of twist and turns, betrayal in the Seal Team, as well a story about tragedy and redemption. Can Elijah discover who betrayed the team? Though he has recovered physically , can he recover emotionally and psychologically. Can reconnecting with his ex-wife , Ava, help heal not only him but also her? As always, the author gives us intrigue, bad guys and hunky Seals, dangerous situations and also romance. I was gifted this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

So much going on but I enjoyed this one. I may have enjoyed it more and felt more connected if I had read the first one but sadly I didn't and I would recommend you do. Elijah has been injured in the last mission and is being mandated to take leave so he is headed home or at least somewhere to rest. He wants to find his ex-wife, Ava, and see if they can reconnect. Ava has started her life again and while she still loves Elijah she does not want to. Reconnecting is something they cannot help but do and she wants to keep it all physical but can they? When danger comes calling, will things get out of hand? Or, and don't forget, there is the mystery of the betrayal to the team to solve. So much going on and so much to keep the pages turning. I did enjoy this and recommend it! **Received this ARC for review**

Call to Engage by Tawny Weber Team Poseidon #2 This second chance at a HEA for Lieutenant Elijah Prescott “Rembrandt” and his ex-wife Ava Monroe has Elijah taking some R&R to think through the issues bothering him. Elijah and Ava never really talked things through before they divorced and it has festered as they moved forward with their lives. Ava is no longer a pampered princess and Elijah is not as sure as he once was. Add in the fact that the Poseidon team is looking for one of their team that turned into a traitor and you have the romance, the team, a mission and a lot going on. I wasn’t thrilled with Ava but did like Elijah. I was glad that Ava finally matured a bit by the end of the book. I am looking forward to reading Nic’s story next and believe that will wrap up the Team Poseidon trilogy. Thank you to the author for the ARC – this is my honest review. 3.5 Stars
