In this engaging and dynamic romance, we are treated to the story of Sarah and J.D. Friends since childhood, they have both grown up and moved on, until J.D. comes back to town, recovering from an injury and a broken marriage. Sarah's long standing crush on J.D. comes to the surface as they are put in close proximity once again - but will J.D. ever be able to see her as the woman she has become or just the girl he knew?
This was a really wonderful story! Sarah's character is feisty and fun, a vet by trade with a secret penchant and flair for high stakes poker (and Latin dancing). J.D. comes across as a handsome, intelligent and caring man, loyal to a fault when it comes to his ex-wife and his friends. A photographer who has made it in the world of the rich and famous, he hasn't forgotten his childhood. Suddenly seeing Sarah as an attractive and exciting woman throws him for a loop and the sexual tension between them ratchets up quickly. The love scenes are sexy and well written, smoking up the pages. The eventual conflict and resolution are well done, with alternating male and female points of view throughout the story giving insight into the character's thoughts and feelings. The plot is fast paced, and I found quite quickly that I wasn't able to put it down until the very satisfactory happy ending. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. 4.5 stars!
