Life sucks for orphans Callum Tate and Harper Bailey.

Kicked out of their foster homes because they suffer the 'eighteen disease' with nothing but a hundred dollar check from the government and a pat on the back, they're forced to rely on a system that failed them miserably.

So they sit. They sit inside Social Services, waiting for their social workers to call their names and offer them the miracle they know will never come but they sit anyway because they have nowhere else to go, no other options on their very literal and figurative empty plates.

But as they sit, they notice the other. Although captivated, they each come to the conclusion that life is complicated enough without throwing in a boiling tension that can't ever be acted upon because they're both too busy thinking about where their next meal will come from but when their names are called and both are placed on a year long waiting list for permanent housing, suddenly relying on each other seems like a very viable plan B.

And, oh, how lovely Plan B's can be.

Well, except for the psycho from Harper's past that haunts her and, oh, yeah, there's the little issue that neither of them knows they're in love with the other.

Needless to say, Callum & Harper's life just got a bit more complicated.

“One day, you and I are gonna’ wake up and be alright. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day. One day. I promise you.” - Callum Tate

About the Author

Fisher Amelie resides in the South with her kick ace husband slash soul mate. She earned her first 'mama' patch in 2009. She also lives with her Weim, 'Jonah', and her Beta, 'Whale'. All these living creatures keep the belly of her life full, sometimes to the point of gluttony, but she doesn't mind all that much because life isn't worth living if it isn't entertaining, right?

Fisher grew up writing. She secretly hid notebooks and notebooks of dribble in a large Tupperware storage container in her closet as a kid. She didn't put two and two together until after college where it suddenly dawned on her, "Hey, I like writing". She's a bit dense.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes, you are. Put down that Oreo, your butt can't take any more."
"You're rude."
"Yeah, yeah."
Anyway, she likes to write and has finally beaten her self-esteem into submission enough to allow herself to be scrutinized under the 'other readers' microscope. "No! No! Not a cover slip! Last time it gave me a ra...." (mumbling)

Two things occurred to me after meeting Miss Fisher Amelie on Saturday. 1). I hadn't finished reading Callum and Harper and was definitely getting my butt in gear. 2). She is amazing! Ok. So. I went home, ignored my husband and plowed through the book. Tears streamed down my face, I slammed my fist into my pillow (more times than I can accurately remember). IT WAS PHENOMENAL. It's been awhile since I was that entranced in a story. It is pretty freakin powerful. Ok. Really powerful. It's a powerhouse of power. Callum and Harper have amazing spirits and strength and together create just about the best LOVE story ever. This author is as real as it gets. Her writing is flawless and poetic, her characters are amazing, she is amazing, and the book is set in NY. Who doesn't love NY? But, it's a side of the big apple rarely seen, it's from the point of view of two down on their luck teenagers. But, it's so uplifting even throughout the drama. I could gush about it all day. It was a beautiful and moving story. Callum is my new book boyfriend. He has pretty much dumped all of my previous book boyfriends on their butts, they don't hold a candle to his brilliant and funny attitude. Then there's Harper, who is extremely beautiful inside and out, but has the ability to be a doesn't-take-crap-from-anyone kind of girl. Love, love, love them. The advice that I can give you right now is, don't wait and don't hesitate for even a second. Go run and buy this book (and Thomas and January) because they will forever change you. Seriously. Go. Oh, and I love the fact that they.. do their laundry! ;)

This is one helluva story. This LOVE right here is what life is about. It's about taking leap of faith and being patient. It's about standing by one another in a loyal friendship, never letting the other fall down. And when they do, you take turns holding each other up. THAT is LOVE! So why did Callum & Harper hooked me to the core? Because it's REAL! Let me tell you that their life is NOT painted pretty. The struggle with what meal will they eat next? Where will they sleep? How to finish their education? Their kids for crying out load, forced to grow up in a cruel place with no example of what love or family would be like! You know what? They excelled far and beyond, creating better lives for themselves and succeeding with very little help. They learn to love despite the crappy hand the world dealt them, and became better people. That's why I fell in love. Not only was the plot rocking, but their LOVE conquered all things. They faced things TOGETHER! Say it with me...T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R. Cause that's how couples worked. Together the worked, encouraged, and love each other deeply. And when one backed down cause of fear, the other didn't push. But instead, both of them took a step back, loving each other from afar, giving the space they wanted. Their love is romantic, patient, kind, not boastful, not jealous. They did no wrong to each other and went beyond friendship. I can't express how much I LOVED this book. Callum & Harper is TRUE love story. Significant in details with great world building, Callum & Harper defy all laws that goes against them. A well balanced, riveting story that has a harsh reality and a sublime ending, this is what we live for. A love worth waiting for!

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. This book is viewed by both harper and callum amd I love that! This book made me smile, laugh, weep, every emotion. And no it is not a churchy book like some people says it only really mentions God once the other time it mentions God torwards the end is completely understandable. So read this book! One if my favorites!

I was disappointed in this book! After reading the reviews and seeing which lists it was on I expected a lot more than what I got. The first half of the book started out well but during the second half more references to God and praying started popping up. It got so bad towards the end I feel like this was really a Christian book masquerading as a mainstream book and almost couldn't finish it. There was a lot of conflict between the characters Sam and Callum that was never resolved - on one page they were arguing and then there was nothing about them until the end, when I guess they were friends again because Sam was cheering for Callum at his graduation. Was part of the story missing from my ebook? Note to the author: There are two words in the English language that sound similar but have different meanings - accept and except. Please look them both up and use them correctly from now on!

I was really loving this book in the beginning but then it got kinda cheesy and dragged out the drama a little too long. Got to be a little far fetched. All in all was a good book, would recommend it.

3.5 stars. I liked the story. The miscommunications were a bit overdone and the dialog was really stilted at times. The suspense was well done, if a bit drug out. I will read this author again.

Please, please, please tell me there is a better edited of this somewhere. As an English teacher, I'd be more than happy to edit it for Ms. Amelie. The story and characters are great, but basic grammar errors and tense shifts (from past to present to past) are too much for me to get over. I'd really love to recommend this book to my students, but I can't suggest writing that confuses "your/you're" and "except/accept." I just can't.
