I really like Marcus, and so far he's remained out of the crazy drama that is Storm, TX. But he remained out of it because he left. Now that he's back in town, sparks are flying between him and the Senator's daughter and her family is not happey about it. Marcus grew up on the "wrong side of town" with the "wrong type of people" and the Rushes want something "better" for their daughter. Ya...lots of air quotes in that one. I really dislike this family. They are the bad guys here and they are going to have a hell of a time making me like them again (except for Brittany - she's good). Marus isn't one to let a little family dislike stand between him and the girl he wants to be with. But he has his own family issues as well. Lots of things happening in Storm. This was another one on the sweeter side and I liked it, but I need my drama now please!

Not only is this a short story with half of it devoted to secondary characters that don't move the story forward, but it ends in the middle of story. I have loved all of Larissa Ione's previous books. However, I didn't really enjoy this one and was completely disappointed to be left hanging with only part of a story. I feel the buyer should be warned in advance that it is only a partial story BEFORE paying ANY money so they can make an informed decision. I feel totally taken advantage of and will not be buying anymore of this series. Some people may like cliffhanger romance stories and that is fine for them. Just not my personal preference.

Marcus Alvarez is back in town and Brittany is ecstatic. She has had a crush on him since they were young. He's not sure if he'll stay in Storm or go back to Montana. Brittany's father, Senator Rush, tries to bully him into leaving Brittany alone. But he decides to finally fight for what he wants. He also finds out why his dad left town. Malloy finally talks to Luis and they decide to start over as friends after he made out with Lacey. He tells Mallory about the conversation he overheard about Jacob. Dakota is still a witch and seeing the Senator. He thinks she's getting to clingy and is thinking of breaking it off. Plenty of secrets. New loves. And drama galore. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM PUBLISHER FOR HONEST REVIEW*

Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I’ve been curious about Marcus for a while now. He had left the town of Storm and left behind his mom and sisters who were getting a pretty raw deal from his father. It struck me as strange that he wouldn’t be the man of the house and protect his mom then. And then there were the hints that Brittany liked him. Being from opposite sides of the track was definitely a draw for me. So Marcus is back in this installment and ready to face some of his demons. Now that his dad is gone, and someone else had to step in to make that happen, he thinks he can just pick up the pieces of his family and move back on with his life. It was nice to see him dealing with a bit more remorse than that, but I can’t say he became my favorite person in town. His relationship with Brittany to me is a mix of wanting her and wanting to stick it to the big man, so I wasn’t as happy about that. In the end, there are some new developments in this installment but I couldn’t quite connect as much as I wanted, id didn’t move the storyline along enough and this is not one that left me wanting the next one desperately.

I received a copy for an honest review. I can not stop reading this series!! Each book picks up where the last one left off but focuses on different characters. All the other characters are still there and we still get a glimpse of their story which just keeps me hooked. So many secrets, some are known and some aren't and I can't wait to find out what they are.

Oh boy this is my favorite one yet. Episode 5 starts out with a bang or should I say a left hook. This episode focuses on Marcus and his budding relationship with Brittany. Marcus has a lot to figure out, stay in storm or go back to Montana. I find him to be one of the most interesting characters in Storm. I feel connected to him in a way that I don't with any of the other characters. Dakota is getting on my nerves. I can see why she is important to the story line but she is a whiny, narcissistic, angry and annoying character. Catch up on your lies, mystery, betrayal and intrigue in Storm.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 Yet another great episode in Rising Storm. I love the every story takes us one step closer to everyone’s secrets blowing up and bringing a major storm that will be hard for the residents of Strom, Texas to survive. I really hoped that Marcuse and Brit might be the one couple who would not have to the town’s curse for drama Because I am convinced that the town of Storm, Texas is indeed cursed with bad luck and a huge case of liar-ism (this is my made up word for one that can not tell the truth). But just like every good soap I will be tuning into the next episodes to see what happens next. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley & Evil Eye Concepts in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

After 6 years, Marcus Alvarez in back in Storm, Texas. Since his father left home unexpectedly, Marcus has been worried about his mother and sisters. During that time, Marcus had been working in a Montana ranch where his boss, Ian Briggs helped him to manage his anger issues. Marcus plans to Montana soon, but when he sees Brittany Rush again, he begins to rethink his plans. Nobody really knows why Marcus had left. Meanwhile, Luis wants to fix things with Mallory Rush, and blurts out what he heard Payton and Francine discuss about Jacob Salt. Marylee Rush and her son, the Senator, do not want to see Marcus and Brittany involved, and will stop at nothing to nip that romance in the bud. However, when someone finally stands up to the Senator, is it in vain? Dillon Murphy tells Marcus what happened with Hector Alvarez, and we get to know the horrible reason why Hector has always been so much nicer to Dakota. The title CALM BEFORE THE STORM is exactly what is happening in Episode 5 of the Rising Storm series; secrets are revealed but the consequences won’t be felt until later; who will tell what to whom? The Senator and his mother are definitely up to no good, but how far will they go? CALM BEFORE THE STORM is so well written, so fluid, it was over before I knew it; I was completely immersed in the story; it is so good! And the flirting between Brittany and Marcus is one of the hottest scenes I have ever read. A heck of a storm is brewing! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The secrets and lies of the good people of Storm are building up quicker than a Texan flashflood. All it's gonna take is one wrong word, a look or an action and all hell will break loose. And I for one cannot wait for the floodgates to open. Copy received in exchange for an honest review.

I applaud all of the authors within this collaborative series. Julie Kenner and Dee Davis came up with an exceptional idea and with each installment more of the pieces fall into place. These are truly troubled people. Some do the wrong things for the right reason and others are just users who thrive on hurting others. The latest installment has been penned by Larissa Ione. Calm Before the Storm centers around Marcus and Brittany. Drawn together due to tumultuous events within their families, these two find healing and escape from all the chaotic drama. Received an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review. The thing that I find so compelling about this series is that every action one person makes has an effect on the lives of many others. It really makes me look at humanity in a different way.
