This is a fine collection full of unintended ironies. Most of it is in fact soca, balanced between names (Baron, Tambu, Sparrow) and unknowns (All Rounder). But there are two old-calypso cuts with acoustic guitar by Roaring Lion, and one by classic steelband The Desperados -- and all three strike like a cool breeze in a crowded dancehall. Still and all, the soca cuts are just fine in their own affably shallow way. Whoever selected this lot had fine ears (pity Mango couldn't have spared the time or the bucks for at least some kind of notes, fer crine out loud).
