A compendium of favorite camp songs for all ages to enjoy.

Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh,

Here I am at Camp Granada.

Camp is very entertaining.

And they say we’ll have some fun

if it stops raining.

The mosquitoes are out and biting, the rain’s coming down in buckets, and there’s poison ivy on the trail. We’re a long way from home and the food here stinks!

Camp wouldn’t be camp without troubles to share. But there are also new friends to make, adventurous trails to be climbed, and toasty evenings by the fire to enjoy (not to mention a fair bit of silliness).

Classic camp-song favorites—from “Rise and Shine” and “Found a Peanut” to “Kum Ba Yah”—and vibrant, folksy illustrations make this offering a musical walk through the campgrounds for generations to treasure.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Artist Fran Lessac collects the lyrics to a cornucopia of camp songs in Camp Granada: Sing-Along Camp Songs. From "If You're Happy" to "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (Camp Granada)" to the closing "Taps" (when "Day is done, gone the sun"), camp song favorites chosen with an emphasis on participation will have young readers singing along in no time. Lessac's signature folk-art-style illustrations add to the homey humor. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
School Library Journal
Gr 1-5-Lessac has gathered the lyrics to more than 30 songs that campers have shared over the years, including "Kum Ba Yah," "Ship Titanic," and "Found a Peanut." The folksy, lush gouaches on double-page spreads focus on typical scenes-gathering around the flagpole, doing crafts, swimming, writing home, etc.-and feature ethnically diverse boys and girls sharing in the sheer ebullience of summer. Musical notations are not included. Readers who want to brush up on lyrics before heading into the woods will find this a welcome title.-Marge Loch-Wouters, Menasha's Public Library, WI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
