About the Author

Mikki C. Zimmerman is a writer and columnist who holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration with concentrations in accounting and marketing. Currently, she is pursuing a Master in Science in Sport Management with a concentration in Sport Leadership at Lasell College (Newton, MA).
Since its inception in April 2008, her syndicated column -“Back and Forth with Mikki”- has gotten rave reviews from readers. It is said to be “frank and straight to the point” but not “critical and judgmental in nature”. In the column, Mikki covers an array of topics that are critical to the African-American community. It has also been described as "thought-provoking commentary from the black perspective". Mikki maintains a blog using the same title - "Back 'n Forth with Mikki". As a cultural critic, she examines the latest trends in African-American culture and music.

As a community service activist, Mikki has served as volunteer reader from 1992-2000 with the “Read-A-Round Program” of the Ouachita Parish School System, a cook and server with the Homeless Ministry (New Tabernacle Baptist Church), and can-goods collector for needy families throughout Monroe, LA with the Boy Scouts of America — Top Gun Troop 65.
She is an avid sports fan who whole-heartedly supports the New Orleans Saints and Hornets and the Wossman High School Football team where her son, DeAndre', is the starting quarterback. She resides in Monroe, LA with her family.

I read Mikki's book from cover to cover and I love it! It is so insightful and it details the frustrations of black women perfectly. No, we are not all frustrated, but the majority of us are. Mikki you nailed it! Kudos!

I am a very very very tired black woman in America!!! It's not just white folk giving me a hard time (they just laid out the foundation) greater than ever it's the folk that look like myself and worst of all the folk (males) that look like my sons i have cried and sweat for. I feel like i can't win in America i have nothing but haters, and everyone seems to go along with wrong doing (except if i do something). I have not read this book yet, but i already know this is the next best thing for me, after the bible. No one seems to care!! V.P. GORE
