About the Author

Vicki Malone was born and raised in Kansas and holds a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Kansas. Her love of plants and nature began in her grandmother's beautiful garden. She has lived on the East Coast for more than forty years, working as an editorial assistant, teacher, and artist. She currently lives with her husband in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and has three grown sons.

Vicki is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, and Botanical Society of the National Capital Region. Her art has been shown at the Corcoran Museum of Art, Monticello Library, United States Botanic Garden, Delaware Art Museum, and galleries in the Washington, DC, area.

Her work has appeared in Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic, America's Flora, and the front and back covers of Simple Gifts: Holidays at the White House 2010.
