These books have been so captivating that when it came to an end I was yearning for more. I would love to read further of what happened to Boyd, Danny, and Larey, did Christine ever make back up north even just for a visit?

A story that encourages you in your own faith as you walk with the characters through both difficult and joyous times. Janette Oke must be a very wise woman. She skillfully weaves deep spiritual lessons throughout the whole story. Also a great way to learn about life in the Canadian west in the early 1900’s.

Kept me very interested and I felt like it gave me a better understanding about the Canadian police, past life of the north, history., and religion. The education along with good reading well enjoyed.

I loved the first book and well into the second. However, by the 4th, it was dragging on a bit. And then BAM! The 5th and 6th are about different members of the family! I was also unsettled by some of the views of God and religion, but that's normal for me with Janette Oke (and really, with religion in general.) I do recommend these books- especially the first one. They leave me wanting to have an adventure! (And meet a Mountie! Why does nothing that exciting happen at the school I teach at?) Fans of the TV show should know that the show is LOOSELY based on these books. Even the Return to Canadian West series featuring a different Elizabeth Thatcher and a Jack Thornton is extremely different. Good, but different from the show.

I enjoyed these books so much, that I've started reading another series by Janette Oke. I find them well written, and not preachy, but wholesome, with values we could all stand to remember. I recommend this author, highly.

Is it as good as the tv series? Because the tv series is so good.
