School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 2-4 In his simple introduction to the disease, Fradin clearly explains what cancer is, who is likely to get it, where it strikes, possible causes of it, and three ways to protect yourself from it (don't smoke, eat a healthy diet, and see your doctor regularly). He also discusses cancer research and the outlook for patients with cancer now. Well-chosen full-color photographs appear on almost every page. The illustrations and the large type make this an appropriate book for young readers. Judy Harris Swenson's Cancer: the Whispered Word (Dillon, 1986) offers a more personal perspective for a slightly older audience, but this will be a useful book for reports and a welcome addition to school and public libraries.
