The perfect book to read to give us an insight of the coming election Ms. Lauren Carr nailed this book again. As an avid reader of her stories, Candidate For Murder is a very exciting book to lay on the couch and read it. It is a perfect book to read to give us an insight of the coming election. There are many characters of the books that I adore. Aside from Gnarly, the bravest German shepherd dog I adore, Dallas is my all time favorite of the story. This girl is not only beautiful, who is also has a gold spoons while growing up but very feisty. She cracks me up as well. A funny, beautiful and witty girl who is not afraid to dig some dirt about the candidate. This book is very exciting, suspense and above all an eye-opener for us readers to select the right candidates that will serve the people in honesty and integrity. I cannot put this book down. Though sometimes, it feels right on my face during the late night when am reading it because I cannot put it down. Disclosure: I received the paperback copy of the book from being a member of ireadbooktours in exchange of my honest review.

Candidate for Murder is another great addition to Lauren Carr’s already existing works. Focusing on Gnarly the loveable, very smart German shepherd owned by Mac Faraday who is back home and into his usual antics like stealing other people’s food and just being a dog. The town of Spencer is in its political season and the prospects for Mayor are slim pickings. Running for mayor is the current mayor, Bill Clark and Nancy Braxton, wife of a famous NFL quarterback, and the hopeful for the first woman mayor of Spencer. However, like real life, politics is a nasty thing to be a part of and to witness. Police chief David O’Callaghan (Mac’s brother) has had enough of this vicious, horrible display of human beings; so he decides to put Gnarly on the ballot just to stir the pot. Never in his wildest dreams did he realize what would come of that one fateful decision. It seems the rest of the town of Spencer is also tired of the usual politics and Gnarly is like a breath of fresh air. This election becomes so popular it captures the nation. However, just because Gnarly is a dog doesn’t mean his opponents will go easy on him. No, in fact they actually go looking into Gnarly’s past and are successful in finding skeletons in his closet. What?! Yep, now it is up to the gang to find out what happened that has Gnarly’s military record sealed from his service in Iraq. There is a lot going on in this story from spies to murder old and new, nationwide and worldwide. It was really nice to have Murphy and Jessica back for this adventure as well. Lauren Carr expertly weaves this story so that everything adds another delightful layer to this suspense novel that even though danger abounds, still has lightheartedness to it. I found this story- though fiction- mirrored a lot of what our country is going through currently. This is an adult novel and there is some language sprinkled throughout. Nothing explicit. I received a copy for an honest review through iRead Book Tours and the opinions are my own.

Candidate for Murder A Mac Faraday Mystery #12 By Lauren Carr Spenser, Maryland, is caught up in the season - election season and the news is bad. The two candidates running for mayor have lower popularity ratings than anyone running for office should have. And then there are rumors about both candidates that could spell doom for the small resort town of Spenser. With Mac Faraday away on his honeymoon with Archie it is up to Police Chief David O'Callaghan to save the election and Spenser. And he has the perfect plan ~ Gnarly! But quickly what was political statement of protest becomes something bigger when Gnarly becomes the overnight front runner in the race. Unfortunately for Gnarly his opponents are willing to do anything to win this election - including digging into his past looking for any buried bones he may have hidden away. With Gnarly's military service and even his status as an American citizen called into question Gnarly's friends have their work cut out for them with the election drawing near. And when a murder comes into the mix this election season just became a whole lot more complicated. As the present and the past collide in this latest installment of the Mac Faraday Mystery series Gnarly has his work cut out for him running a campaign, protecting those closet to him and uncovering a threat to national security. For most people this would be an impossible task, but Gnarly isn't most people and with his highly developed intellect this is one German Shepherd that could go as far as the Oval Office if he so desired! Candidate for Murder has it all murder, intrigue, betrayal, and just enough scandal to make the national news. And then there's the story involving Gnarly, a burning building, and a family of cats... If your looking for a candidate who can think on his feet you may have found him, just be sure to carefully guard your dinner plate. Overall this was a highly entertaining book with some interesting moments that you're left shaking your head at the absolute insanity of the situations that could very likely happen. And I have to say all the scenes involving Nigel were priceless especially when Gnarly was involved. I totally loved the cast of dogs in the book and their unique personalities. Politics will never be the same with Gnarly on the ticket... I was provided a copy of this book through iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.

I am a huge fan of Lauren Carr’s, so when I saw a chance to get a copy of her latest Mac Faraday Mystery, Candidate for Murder, how could I resist? A familiar cast of characters and Lauren Carr’s humorous hints had me guessing in this murder mystery. OMG…Gnarly is under investigation. He’s running for mayor of Spencer and the mudslinging has begun. His competition will stop at nothing to undermine him. After seeing the promo for the movie PETS, it is easy to visualize the mischief of Gnarly and his cohort Storm, a canine Bonnie & Clyde. Here’s just one example: feasting on a romantic dinner for two that was not intended for them. “If you were smart, you would have put them outside before levaing our dinner unguarded.” “I did…But I forgot to lock it!” The writing and dialogue keeps me in stitches as the political campaign heats up. An old murder is being investigated and the city of Spencer will be rocked. Outrageously funny. Unputdownable. Spoofing politics makes this a MUST READ during our political times. Greed, ambition, God complex, entitlement, ego, sex, money, power… Every time I think of the kittens Gnarly saved, a laugh bursts forth. So much is going on, I am having trouble figuring out who the bad guys are. I love that. OMG!!! The best Mac Faraday…yet. Lauren Carr is a master storyteller who combines the humor of Janet Evanovich and the investigative skills of Patricia Cornwell. She is always at the top of my reading list. I received a copy of Candidate for Murder from Lauren Carr in return for an honest review.

I’ve read several books in the Mac Faraday Mystery series and was so excited after reading the synopsis for this newest one. Gnarly, Mac Faraday’s german shepherd and my favorite four-legged friend, is running for Mayor of Spencer. Most folks in town don’t care for either of the candidates running on the ballot. Sound familiar? They jump on board to vote Gnarly in. Of course, the other nominees aren’t taking this lying down, and they dig for the dirt. I don’t think they’ll find anything. After all, Gnarly is man’s best friend. Well, except for the thing about the disappearing food. His partner in crime, Storm, knows all about that, and she’s not talking. What started as a lark snowballs, and the fun begins. Can you imagine Gnarly debating the other candidates? How about kissing babies and shaking hands? Gnarly is on the campaign fast track. I wonder if his four-legged companions will be allowed to vote. In between all of the crazy political scheming, the gang is working a cold case. Secrets are uncovered and the town of Spencer might not survive the fallout. I love that Lauren’s characters are all animal lovers and their pets go wherever they go. And they are just as individual in personality as the humans. It’s a load of laughs to see what they get into. When an author can spin a good mystery and keep me in stitches at the same time, it’s all good. I loved this book and it’s now one of my favorites in the series.
