Horror fiction¿dark and erotic¿The Cannibal Within has been described as ¿an obscenely beautiful book¿ that is ¿wet with sin, slippery with blood, and slimy with fornication.¿ The Cauldron has described it as ¿The work of a sick mind.¿ Dark Funeral has called it ¿one of the most unique horror novels to come along in a long time.¿ Occultism, Satanism, Eroticism, Cannibalism ... they are all here. Written in a style that is part H. P. Lovecraft, part Marquis de Sade, and part Octave Mirbeau, The Cannibal Within is filled with suggestive images. Here is one sample: 'Gold, the feces of hell, was scattered everywhere. Swarthy priests--all of them small, ugly, and effeminate--were busily collecting the nuggets. Nearby, a syphilitic old whore--studded with ulcers--was watching them. The whore was laughing. She must be alive, I thought in the dream. According to legend, dead souls cannot laugh.' Here is another sample: 'As the red smoke, perfumed with the stench of cremated flesh, drifted up and encircled me, I felt strangely renewed. My youth and beauty were gone, but I had tasted the intoxicating sweetness of vengeance. Killing the beast, I thought, has restored my virginity and my dignity.' And a third sample: 'The ancestors discovered the pleasure--the almost orgasmic joy--of eating meat. They felt intoxication when their teeth entered the flesh of their prey--they felt ecstasy when they smelled the blood, tasted the warm fat, and heard the groans of their victims.'
