Can you believe it? Today is the day “The Over-the-Top Circus” arrives in town and Willow is super-de-dooper excited. It is going to be an amazing day! Willow heads to the circus, but within a few minutes she spots the ice cream truck. Yum! An ice cream is the perfect way to start an awesome day so Willow takes out her money and buys a cone. She just can’t say no. Willow keeps walking and soon sees her friends playing kickball. That looks like fun! Willow plays for a bit until she gets thirsty. A little more money for a glass of lemonade and then it’s back to walking to the circus. Willow gets distracted again and again on the way to the circus until she finally arrives and after a few more distractions, she finds that she is out of money AND the show she was so excited to see has ended. What will she do? Can’t-Wait Willow! is the sweet story of an adorable little girl who just can’t say no. She wants to try everything, but soon realizes that sometimes you need to say no to the little things so you can enjoy the more important things. There is a note at the start of the book from the author to parents that includes a link for games, apps, and parenting resources. For kids, there is a ‘star search’ within the story where a little yellow star appears repeatedly (can you find it?) and its appearance reflects the choices (good or bad) that Willow makes. A fun story, cheerful illustrations that mesh perfectly with the story, and a valuable lesson make this book a winner! Quill says: If you want to teach your child how to make good choices, and when to say ‘no’ to things that may not be important, check out Can’t-Wait Willow! Your child will have fun AND learn a valuable lesson.

Cassandra's Review - I was pleased with the beauty of the cover and then it just kept on getting better from there. I love that this story has such a good message and the star is too cute. The fact that my children really had a good time and a big discussion after made me smile and know  that they are now more aware of instant gratification and the need to choose your priorities based on more then just a quick feeling. If you have a child or loved one that you want to share this story with or even if your a teacher and know of anyone who would benefit from this book then I would recommend it fully. Can't Wait Willow is a quick read but the message will last a lifetime.

"Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising." We all find it hard to say no sometimes, especially to things that we really want or enjoy doing. For youngsters, that decision can be even harder if they don’t understand the difference between bad, good and great choices. Willow has been dreaming of eating pink cotton candy at the Over-the-Top Circus when it comes to town. The big day has finally arrived and she’s excited as she heads to the circus. However, along the way she stops to enjoy a few of her favorite treats and activities. When she finally arrives at the big tent, she discovers she has spent all of her money and the circus is closing for the night. She doesn’t even have enough money for one pink cotton candy treat. A helpful man from the circus intervenes, giving Willow a second chance to enjoy the circus. Willow remembers the advice he gives her as she makes her way back to the circus the next day. She comes to understand that while she might enjoy the fun along the route to the circus, she has to say no to some good things to be able to get to the great things. Author Christy Ziglar has done an excellent job blending elements together to help parents teach youngsters how to make good choices when faced with so many things they want. The story is fun and shows that waiting is sometimes the best choice. Illustrator Luanne Marten brings the story to life with her beautiful drawings. The charming illustrations are colorful, bold and eye-catching. The ‘star search’ throughout the story is added touch that will keep youngsters glued to the pages. Can't-Wait Willow! is the first installment in the Shine Bright Kids series, which is designed to help families provide solid values when teaching youngsters the importance of making good choices. The principles that will be explored include: using good judgment, taking responsibility, having a positive attitude, and demonstrating perseverance. This is an enchanting book and great start of a delightful new series to inspire, educate and entertain youngsters. Can't-Wait Willow! is a fun way to show youngsters that saying yes to everything can lead to missing out on what they want most.

I am always looking for new books to add to our library that are more than just other stories and this book more that hits the mark. It is simply delightful! Every spread is covered in detailed, colorful illustrations and includes a star that helps children identify when the main character, Willow, is making good decisions or bad decisions. The story is written in a way that children of all ages can learn from it. The book also comes with some great tips for parents on how to help encourage children to make good decisions throughout the day. This book is educational, fun and well worth every penny! Can't wait for the next book in the series!
