In 1136, the Warrior Maids of Riveloch object to Pagan Caeliard arriving to take over the estate that they and their third sister Miriel have tended though King David sent his loyal knight to do so. Instead Helena and Deirdre plan to interrupt the nuptials. However, a drunken Helena is locked away by Pagan¿s top assistant Sir Colin du Lac.----------------- The wedding goes on as planned, but a sober Helena revises her plot to prevent the marriage. She takes Colin prisoner using her wiles she will offer him in exchange for Pagan leaving. However, her scheme further falls apart as she is attracted to her prisoner and worse he informs her that his liege wed Deirdre. As they fall in love, Helena fears for her independence if she marries the enemy.---------------- The second Warrior Maids tale is a fine medieval romance starring a capable warrior woman and the kind knight who loves her. The story line parallels much of the time line that occurs in LADY DANGER so that readers of the first novel will see some of the secondary events take center stage in this story, but newcomers will have a stand alone tale. Sarah Kerrigan provides a wonderful historical romance that will gain her many sub-genre fans, who like this reader looks forward to the final sister¿s tale where the ¿Shadow¿ will hopefully be revealed (though the betting favorite is).--------------- Harriet Klausner

Helena, Warrior Maid of Rivenloch had serious objections to the Norman dog, Pagan Cameliard being granted leave by King David of Scotland to marry one of the Maids of Rivenloch ¿specifically her younger sister Miriel. Along with her elder sister Deidre, they had agreed that one of them would `sacrifice¿ themselves to the marriage bed, rather than let their poor little sister be forced to wed. Unfortunately, Helena¿s drunken attempt to stop the wedding by killing the groom ended in her being captured and restrained while her sister was wed. ************ Too late to stop the wedding, Helena turns the tables on her captor, Sir Colin du Lac by taking him prisoner with plans to ransom him back to Pagan in exchange for an annulment of her sister¿s marriage. While waiting for Helena¿s ransom demands to be met she and Colin share some misadventures, a visit from a local bandit known as `The Shadow¿ and they become highly attracted to one another. Through it all Helena falls prey to the charm of Colin. By night Helena would share his passion but by day she¿d fight to remain a Warrior Maid. Colin would face the greatest battle of his life in laying claim to conquer the heart of his `warrior maid¿. ************** *** This was an amusing and adventuresome read for the second entry of a medieval trilogy starring three `warrior maid¿ sisters. Helena was an extremely accomplished warrior having bested Colin with both some surprising fighting maneuvers as well as a strength he¿d not attributed to a mere female. Naturally, Colin was too much of a gentleman to use excessive force against the sister of his commander¿s wife so initially went along with his capture by the beautiful feisty maid thinking it a bit of a lark. Colin knew that the little `hell-cat¿ would soon be purring once he poured on his charm ¿ and that was his first mistake -- underestimating Helena. The well-written story was very amusing utilizing barbs and witty banter between the two protagonists which helped to keep this reader glued to the pages long into the night. My one criticism was frustration with Helena who went overboard with her refusal to marry Colin who I felt made the better attempt at compromise than Helena and was a more likeable character. Without having read the first book, LADY DANGER, I will say this entry fully stands alone and after having read the `sneak peek¿ of the final installment - A KNIGHT¿S PRIZE -- will certainly be looking forward to reading more from this author. ************ Marilyn Rondeau, RIO - Reviewers International Organization**** Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

I'm not going to sit and tell you about it, others did it justice. It is one of those books you just can't put down. I loved Lady Danger but this one tops that one. Cant wait for the third one to come out soon!!! This is a must read for anyone who loves a strong female who lives in the past but with a modern mind and a Man willing to take her for who she is!

Nice having a female historical romance character that can take care of herself! What a change. Refreshing. I enjoyed the characters and the story!
