Love is never easy. It's especially difficult when you love a Marine. I knew the risk when I said "I do", but I chose to love anyway.

In a flash, he was taken from me, and now I'm alone. Struggling and desperate. There's no hope, no future. Just the endless cycle of day-to-day survival. But a letter returned could change all of that.

Hope and love often come from the last place you'd think to look, when you least expect it.

*  *  *

I was a lost, broken soul, tortured by the memories of what I'd endured. When I visited that old farmhouse in rural Texas, all I wanted to do was return the letter. Keep a promise to a friend.

What I got was healing. Understanding. The chance to find a measure of peace when all I've ever known is war.

We both lost everything. But in each other, we found something worth fighting for.

***6 STAR SALUTE *** *** 2014 FAVORITE READ *** *** Captured is a POWERFUL Book *** Jack and Jasinda Wilder deserve a standing ovation for Captured ! It is a phenomenal reading experience! Captured is one of those books that will engage all of your sensory factors, emotionally and physically. This book renders every emotion with a poignant, brutally honest insight into the human psyche.  The explicit descriptions throughout the book will have the readers feeling the physical pain, the adrenaline highs and lows, the surreal feel of the environmental surroundings from the temperature to the geographical elements, the smells and tastes from those surroundings, and the pure physical joy of the ‘feel good’ moments. Captured is written from duo POV’s throughout a three year period.  The reader experiences Derek West’s traumatic experience in the war arena and his re- introduction back into society.  His journey will touch your soul. From Reagan Barrett’s POV the readers will experience the emotional chaos that comes from loving a career Marine.  They will see the strengths, weaknesses, and heartrending trials loved ones go through on the home front. Derek and Reagan have traveled an emotionally tortuous road.  Their journey is heartbreaking with a multitude of trials and tribulations. Along the journey they will discover the true meaning of love. Their final destination is one of peace and pure happiness. Captured not only highlights the horrors of the warfront, it also spotlights the pure joy of finding love.  The sexual chemistry and romance between Derek and Reagan  is smoldering.   From the war arena to the home front….one letter will touch the soul. This one letter will• Give Hope• Give Peace In Death• Motivate one to Live• Bring the dawning of new life• Evoke guilt• Demonstrate the power of forgiveness• Bring people together to form a new family unit• Give second chances• Reconnect old friendships• Reaffirm Life One letter will touch many lives. The written word is powerful! Captured showcases just how powerful the written word is! Jack and Jasinda Wilder have Captured that power! *** On a personal note, I want to thank the men and women of the Armed Forces for serving and protecting our nation.  I would also like to thank their families and loved ones for enduring life on the home front while their loved ones selflessly  serve and protect our country. You are all true heroes in every way.

Where to even begin to describe this book that provoked so many emotions out of me. I began this book during my morning commute on the train and I could imagine the looks I was getting by my facial expressions alone. It is not often that I am speechless but this book has made me so. It was heart wrenching, heart pounding and joyous all at the same time. Although I knew what was coming at the beginning of the book, I still held out hope that the outcome would be slightly different in regards to Tom but then we wouldn’t have the fantastic storyline that we did have.  The beginning of the book had my heart racing with dread and anticipation. The description of the war zone was so vivid I felt that I was on the battlefield with those unfortunate souls. Never have I read a book that was able to describe the battlefield in such graphic detail and made me appreciate all the sacrifices that our soldiers make on a daily basis. The love story between the main characters was simply beautiful and poignant, two people torn apart by war in different ways but brought together because of it. Just when you think that the couple will have their happily ever after there’s a wrench thrown in their relationship, which was unexpected and unfair in my opinion. It was unnecessary and particularly brutal but thank goodness the resolution wasn’t drawn out and was resolved quickly. I was also happy that the relationship between the protagonists wasn’t an instant thing and that it took time for them to develop and acknowledge their feelings. This was realistic and refreshing especially in today’s books of insta love. Pros Everything I can’t complain about 99.9% of this book Nobody was a millionaire or billionaire  Cons Death of Tom (I know I know he had to die in order for there to be a love story but it was still sad) Death of Hank and Ida (loved these 2) Naming their daughter Ida (I loved the character of Ida like everyone else but to name that poor child Ida Elizabeth, she’s going to need therapy in the future)  I know that they weren’t close to their families, I understand with Reagan but Derek had contact with his parents it was like they disappeared out of his life. I know that they weren’t central to the storyline but a mention of them visiting their grandkids in the epilogue would have been nice.

Your heart, mind, body, and soul will be Captured... Wow! What an amazing read.  I could not put it down.  Jasinda and Jack truely captured what life is like after love, loss, heartache, and pain.  The lives that Marine Corps families live are not easy.  Marines are deployed everyday and their wives do everything they can to show them the love and support they need, while keeping themselves so busy that they don't have to think about the dangers their husbands are facing.  I know what this feels like because I was the wife of a Marine and it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my entire life.  He was deployed for 6-months while I went to school and worked three jobs to keep my mind off of what he was facing.  The letters are the one thing that kept me going.  I wrote to him every other day and when I would get a letter back it would be like time stood still and I would read those letters over and over again until the ink began to fade.  Every night before I went to bed I read the letters and every morning when I woke up.  I needed him with me and that is how I made it work.  The letters in this story are heart-wrenching and full of love and devotion.  Jasinda and Jack did their research and gave us something so beautiful, and so real that is brought tears to my eyes.  It took me back 20 years ago when I was writing those letters.  But, enough about me. Reagan and Derek are two lonely souls that have been ravaged by war and loss.  Both are dealing with shell shock.  Reagan just can't do it again.  She can't take the risk that her heart with be irrevocably broken and Derek is seriously wounded mentally after being a prisoner of war.  He is skittish and easily startled.  The journey to recovery for Derek is painful, emotionally and physically. His return to civilian life is toilsome as he has to conquer his demons everyday. Reagan Barrett is tough.  She is a widow and has been running her husband's family farm on her own for the past ten years, all while being a single mom.  She has the amazing support of her neighbors Hank and Ida who have become her extended family.  Reagan has buried the idea that she will ever fall in love again. When Derek West shows up on her doorstep all of the feelings she has buried start to come to life and Derek ignites a passion in her that she never knew existed.  The chemistry between Derek and Reagan is off the charts, HOT. Will these two broken souls be able to recover from all the wounds that war has inflicted upon them and find their happlily ever after?  You will have to read Captured to find out. Thank you Jasinda and Jack for a truly amazing story full of love, and loss and giving others a glimpse into the life of a Marine Corps family.  Marines go in first and are the last to leave.  They are tough and strong and their wives are amazing women who are selfless and give love easily to their husbands and others around them. Captured is a must read for anyone that wants to know what it is like to be a Marine Corps wife. CAPTURED will show you: Courage Amazing Grace Perseverance Turmoil Unity Return Everlasting Love Determination

Sexual detail much too graphic. I prefer a plot instead of one sex scene after another. Did not even bother finishing it.

I love, LOVE Jasinda Wilder...her books are addicting and Captured is just another in a long line of awesome books! ...I wasn't too excited about the book to begin with...I am not a fan of military novels...they are just so sad and emotional that I have a hard time reading them. I was curious to read it because both she and her husband Jack wrote it together... So I took a chance and I am so happy I did. It was nothing like I thought it would was military intense but the story was just perfect! Such a powerful story of tragedy, loss, and overcoming! The emotions are high, the story engrossing and most of all it had a HEA!!! Thank goodness!

Gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, suspenseful, sad, happy, breathtaking, healing, sexual and forgiveness. This story is amazingly well written and the point of view from both Reagan and Derek just added a deeper layer to an already emotional ride. The Wilders have done it again, get this book you will not be disappointed.

If ever a movie should be made from a book, it should be this book! Seriously the Wilder's outdid their selves this time. This book is so incredible and detailed and graphic and beautiful and....and...and. I honestly don't have the words to describe the essence of this book. It is a must for everyone to experience. Derek is sexy and he knows it. He lives his life the way he wants to, when he is on leave he is happy just to mess around with whom ever his pants desire. He has no intent on changing that. Until without warning, EVERYTHING CHANGES. While on tour in Afghanistan, his men get ambushed. All but him and Barrett get slaughtered. They both get taken as POW and are tortured. Only one makes it out alive. And the only thing that had kept him semi sane was the letter Barrett's wife had written to Barrett and a promise that he has every intent on keeping. Reagan, is now a single mother. Left to take care of not only herself and her son. But also her husband's family farm. On the farm there is no days off. No days for you to relax, grief, or move on. She lives her life day to day, with her son, and the elderly neighbor to help. She just is. Not truly living, not truly anything but a mother and a farmer. Everything changes for the both of them, the day Darek comes to the farm to return the letter Reagan had written her husband so many years ago. But can she handle another Marine? And can he handle being back in society again? They have so much going against them. It's heartbreaking.

Fantastic Read Gifted Copy Jasinda and Jack have done it again!!! This is a must read. I was blown away with how great this book was. You’re going to laugh, cry and scream. There so much to say about this book, but not sure how to say it that will do it justice. This book really brings home a lot of things that we take for grant in life and don't think much about. I'm always drawn to a book that deals with military, one because it makes me think about how lucky I am and two because it make me appreciate just what our military does for us. This is wonderful heart tugging story done the only way Jasinda and Jack could have done it by pulling out the true emotions that one might go through.

I can't sit here and write a review worthy of 5 stars in and of itself. I'm just a normal person. Certainly not the extraordinaryly talented Jasinda and Jack Wilder. I've been a fan of hers for quite some time but just recently found out they team up. Maybe I'm slow..I don't know?! This book elicited a rollercoaster of emotions for me that I didn't know I could feel from a book. Don't pass this by, you'll regret it! Also, if they weren't solidly in that category of authors that I knew I could count on, every single time to deliver, they're there now. Ha! What am I saying...she was there with "Big Girls.."
