For hundreds of years, humans ventured out into the galaxy in search of intelligent life only to be met by vacuum of lifeless space. Countless worlds are discovered, each as empty as the last. Mother Earth comes to be the sole home of life in the known universe. As the reality of a lifeless universe sinks in, religious zealots increase their monopoly on faith and power as the decades fade into centuries.
Cast down on LC3, a desolate uninhabited world, to serve five years at hard labor in a penal mining colony, Ross Alexander Bowman only wants to find a way to survive until he learns of the existence of alien artifacts and the possibility of non-Earth life. Sucked in by his double-dealing cellmate, Bowman soon finds himself caught in a web of intrigue where hereditary lords, secret societies and religious zealots vie for control of the universe.
Bowman becomes the unwitting savior when he accidentally stumbles onto a hidden world filled with a People and a Truth unknown to the groups who vie to control humanity's teaming masses. The deeper Bowman descends into the bowels of LC3, the deeper he probes the mysteries of this planet of the damned and the nearer he comes to his own destiny and that of the future course of humanity.

The dome when struck by the high intensity light seemed to spring to life. Rainbows of cascading color danced in every direction as Bowman moved the light beam across the upper reaches of the dome's polished surface. The spectacle of light was like nothing the two men had ever witnessed. It was as if the light had taken on a life of its own and as if they themselves had become as one with this newly evolved entity.Mesmerized the men gazed into the majestic mystery of the dome, each feeling he had seen beyond infinity itself. The galaxy fanned out dancing and spinning before them. Suns with their collections of orbiting worlds studded web-like patterns that the men somehow knew formed the fabric of space-time itself. "Bowman! Louis! Are you guys down there?" The booming voice came out of nowhere. The soaring spirits of the two men, suddenly confronted with the unwelcome intrusion, sputtered in mid-flight and spiraled out of control slamming back into their bodies with such force that their minds were left awash in confusion as they struggled to catch their breath.

I see this book as a journey and the beginning of a series. The story, although it is fiction, lead me deeper into answering 'who are we really?' and 'are we alone in the universe?'. I look forward to book #2 and follow this story that has been in the making for many years, but right on target for the 21st century. Thanks Bill.
