Carl and June: Tales of Two: A collection of children's stories from the Writers Mill based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
A charming collection of stories (and one poem) for children, nicely illustrated in black and white with photos, sketches and drawings, this is a fun short book for small readers and a perfect Christmas gift for next year! Of course, I’m never sure about reviewing a book that includes one of my stories, but the sibling protagonists of Carl and June were created by Matthew McAyeal, and their adventures, written by Matthew and several other members of the writers’ group, all have a pleasing sense of young children’s lives. The author has nicely ordered the tales to follow a season of adventures, from that Christmas when June wants a cellphone and Carl learns his first word, through tax-time, summer, and meeting the neighbor’s dogs. I’m lucky enough to have read another Carl and June story, not included in the book, and I’m eager for more. Please write more, Matthew McAyeal! Disclosure: One of my stories and several of my illustrations are included in this collection.
